This shit's confusing.... So basically let me see if I've got the right idea of all the characters. Sinji is a whiny annoying kid who has been, not necessarily abused, but unwanted. He is now someone who constantly withdraws himself from others and is extremely lonely. Asuka is a bratty, overly confident girl. However it's all just an act, when in fact she is really lonely and has some sort of thornbush effect where she hurts people if she gets too close? Rei is alllll effed up and isn't even technically real since she was just recreated from science and memories. Miss Misato is a drunk who is in love with her father so much she dates Kaji because he reminds him of her. She also is in Nerv just to get vengeance for her fathers death? Then Miss Ritsuko is a scientist who was used by Ikari for her brains and is in constant spite of her mother, fearing she is just like her?
I think that's what they're supposed to be, but the hell if I know. Tons of backstory that jumps between the characters. Hard to keep a straight mental picture of what's going on.

Yeah, I'm watching it right now. I have my likes and dislikes about it. So far all I can tell is the main character Singi or however you spell is name is a whiny little bitch who was mistreated and unwanted by his father. The government agent woman is a alcoholic, but she means well. Rae is similar to Singi, however she likes his father and is shy minus the whiny, bitchy part. I'm liking the aspect of development in them though. Since episode 1 (currently 7) the main character has grown more open and friendly. So far I'd give it a 7, but I don't think it's picked up yet. Just the foundation is being constructed.

I thought that too. So far I don't know if I'm just picking the goods ones, but I've enjoyed each one quite a bit. To the point where it always makes me want to watch the next episode.. except Toradora!. That was a pain to make it to the end.
