Ergo Proxy is my favorite anime too! We have the same reasons for liking it so much! Everything in my top 5 animes share that theme of hiding the true plot from you until the end and then make you go, WHAT?!! and makes you watch the entire anime again with that knowlege. You should see my wallpaper image in my anime/manga list.
