School Days starts off like a typical romance anime. Makoto, a seemingly normal guy, meets Kotonoha, and falls in love. After a few episodes I thought I might enjoy School Day. It wasn't anything special, but it wasn't horrible either. It's after the first few episodes that this anime begins to spiral downwards.
The story itself wasn't the worst I have seen and it can keep you interested for a few episodes. That being said, by the end, the story failed to keep me interested. I only suffered through the later episodes to see the ending.
The art was honestly pretty well done. It was
...
one of the better parts of School Days. Not too much to be said in this regard.
The sound wasn't too bad either. Not a whole lot to say about it either.
The characters are probably the reason I disliked this show so much. Makoto is a downright disgusting character, with no respect for anyone around him. The only motivation he has is to sleep with any girl he can. Kotohona is probably the only character I had any sympathy for and even then by the end of the show I found myself disliking her as well. The rest of the characters are awful as well. They have little regard for their "friends" and pretty much every supporting character only cares about themselves.
I really can't say I enjoyed this anime. Every episode made me hate the characters more than I had before. All I can say I enjoyed about the show was the ending. I had to struggle to hold back a smile, because I was so glad when it happened. It was the only thing that could somewhat justify my time spent with School Days.
Honestly I'd say watch the show just for the ending. I would never watch School Days again for any reason somehow made it worth watching for me.
