>>To be fair to Wing, it's animation quality was superior to the 1979 TV series, especially the infamous 15th episode. However, you're right that Wing's animation was sucktastic. Just how many times did we see those same 3 Leo's blow up?
Yeah. I'm just giving the show a hard time. Though, the animation from the Gundam movies certainly /is/ better than the Wing TV show.
AWO always says that Wing appealed to people /because/ of the characters, and they didn't care about the robots. It's the most popular Gundam show to ever be on TV, and that’s because people liked the pretty boys. I mean think about it-- all the other Gundam shows shown on TV have lacked in the bishounen factor. In the original everyone is appropriately ugly, in G-Gundam the only ones that look good are the girls, and the OVAs don't pander much to either side. The only bishounen-strong Gundam that wasn't Wing to show on Toonami was Seed, and that had a lot of pretty girls to balance out all the KIRAXASSRUN. And those shows weren't popular. So Wing sold entirely on bishounen :V
But I'll admit I'd watch Wing again once more, simply for nostalgia. Then I'd never watch it again
ps: When I was a kid I certainly /did/ notice all the reused animation, but it never registered in my mind as a bad thing. But I did hate how like 3/5 shots lacked shading.
I appreciate the Gundam recommendations. I'm pretty fond of a fair few mecha series (Robotech was the first anime I ever really got into), but I've never been able to see what all the Gundam fuss is about. Hopefully I'll have a chance now.
