Naruto is the typical Shounen anime. Despite the success of its manga counterpart, the anime tries to take advantage of that advantage and attempts to drag out the series for all it's worth; and as far as quality is concerned, it is worth nothing.

Story:
Naruto's plot is driven by noneother than the "prototype" shounen anime template. Loner protagonist has bad past, then proceeds to set a goal in his life, along the way he meets other characters which make his possy even stronger. However, Naruto manages to make such a dull plot into an even more bland anime. By disrupting the plot with unneeded comedy/fanservice, the pacing suffers a huge blow.

Art:
The art of Naruto is truly non-existent, given the funding they were provided with. The combat scenes are a repitition of a the same action sequence. The background can be easily distinguished as rushed through (perhaps because their need to pump out 220 episodes).

Sound:
The BGM/SFX is typical hot-blooded, weapon smashing, so there is nothing to praise there.
The voice acting is moderately done: the seiyuus bring out their cliched characters to life.

Character:
Naruto: Arrogant, hot-blooded, typical protagonist (Read: Ichigo, Bleach)
Sasuke: Suave, cold, typical foil character (Read: Zoro, One Piece)
Sakura: Typical tsundere, has crush on both(Read: ...)
There are also role players such has naruto's teacher and his enemies; however, they almost serve no part in the plot except getting defeated and/or teaching the gang a life lesson/ new skills.

Enjoyment:
I really shouldn't give it a 1, since I thoroughly enjoyed it when I was younger. But, really, if your older than 13 you should be moving on. Try Claymore or something.
