Azuriel lives on a tiny island near the equator but some day, she wish to spread her wings and travel around the world. She grew up as a quiet child who loves reading and losing herself in the fantasy world. Eventually, blooming into a young adult who was captivated by the world of anime where fantasy reigns.
She loves blood-pumping action and fighting scenes that gets her adrenaline rushing. Eventually, developing a liking for the clashing of katanas, the nimble and acrobatic moves of these shinobis, and way of a samurai. She remains undaunted by the bloody scenes of body parts being sliced, heads getting chopped and bodies being mangled.
Despite her morbid preference, she thoroughly enjoy adventure stories that encompass the hardships of life and the supports of nakama, with great character development. For instance, One Piece & Hunter X Hunter. This also bloomed an interest in sports-related stories where the underdogs or genius overcomes many obstacles and strives hard to be the best - the strength of the human spirit, which is all so inspiring for Azuriel.
Occasionally, she would turn to the usual light-hearted romance and/or comedy that never fails to bring out the best emotion in her - crying her heart out, laughing out loud and giggling like a school girl.
Finally, her fascination with the supernatural; spiritual realm, psychic, paranormals, vampires, witch, ghosts and any other unnatural powers had been a major factor that attracted her to various animes.

Aoki Densetsu Shoot is actually the only soccer anime I have watched, meaning I haven't exactly watched Hungry Heart, Whistle or Tsubasa. Still, I thought it was pretty good as a kid. Yeah, the Kubo moment got to me too, but it was when he died that Toshihiko become a truely good player. Also, I liked the romance aspect added to the anime.
Interesting to see you watch Aoki Dentetsu Shoot, since that anime was one I watched ages ago, while I was growing up. One of my favourites at the time too. Of course, I've out grown it, but seeing you watch it brings back memories. XD
oh i forgot to mention that yes, i have a driving license. just got it in march this year. i failed 3 times urgh but luckily it's all over now. well, to be honest, i don't think girls really need a license that urgently. you could just get a boyfriend to drive you around lol.
Haha, true. I guess it's your own values that matter in the end. But I was leaning more to the type of friends you meet there.
Samurai anime are action anime, and you can possibly look at my favs, there aren't any. Action genre really isn't my forte at all. Even the less serious ones like Shakugan no Shana, or many of the Shounen Jump brand of action flick I don't really like, let alone more serious ones like Blood+ and Monster. So it's more of action in general rather than samurai flicks. Similarily, mecha also isn't my forte, because it tends to lean towards action as well.
I'm more of a romance/comedy and random humor lover, though recently I've found to love the slice of life genre too, which brings me to the likes of Aria, Yotsuba&!, YKK etc. Rather than pure humour, these manga/anime gave very peaceful feelings. Anime wise, I highly recommend Aria, and manga I recommend Yotsuba.
is the nus open house over already? decided yet? i've noticed that the university "advertising war" has started to heat up...although i notice that nus is advertising more for their business/law faculties than anything else. it's as if they fear smu's competition more than ntu. 0_o well from what i know there're quite a few people on the nus waiting list who haven't even gotten a reply from them yet. but i'm not rushing you lah haha. those friends of mine aren't trying for life sciences anyway.
but i've got quite a few friends from my JC in the science faculty; either in there for 2 years already or just going in this year after NS. but to be honest, most JC people are such hands-off and theory-based people that i really don't see them carving out a career in research; in fact 2 of the guys whom i know are going to the science faculty are planning to teach after they graduate.
yep, then again it's not just doing the same things over and over again that makes research tough. i think a lot depends on the senior researchers too. because, when you're fresh from university, no one would want to grant you a substantial budget for research with that non-existent track record of yours. you'd probably work under a senior researcher, and if you don't have the same passion that he has for the topic you're working on or if the senior researcher is just plain lazy and unambitious, then work would seem really boring and you won't feel like you're accomplishing anything.
my sister has told me before of senior researchers who seem content at times to just idle away our tax money. >.< and the government lets them do that because they're all waiting for some big company to notice our "wonderful" infrastructure" - with all the young researchers and their paper qualifications - and invest large amounts of cash in our country. bummer.
oh btw speaking of all this, have you watched the anime moyashimon? it's a laid-back anime about microbiologist students and microorganisms...i'm not sure if the humour'll be your thing, but the microorganisms are still very cute, regardless. :)
totally agree about haruhi. it's sounds wrong but lots of people DO think she's cool. i tell myself "to each his own", but when i think about it more, i start to have this urge to try knocking some sense into the guys; that in REALITY, if they ever married someone like haruhi, they'd probably suffer a loss of self-esteem from her abuse and her demands and divorce her or commit suicide by the end of the first month. :|
Which is why I chose SIM-RMIT over local Us. I think overseas U can help better as they are less results orientated & more on the process. I don't have a single paper that consist of 100% the final paper only, unlike in local Us. Also, far too competitive results wise. I guess it's true we differ in that aspect, that you either give it your all, or nothing at all. Can't compare a dog with a cat, right? So, no point arguing whose ideas is better. XD
That said, I think it's important to fully consider what you will be doing, say, 10-15 years down the road. Can you see yourself working in Life Sciences then? Also, since a U also helps develop a person as a whole, what KIND of person would you want to be? I believe a differing U can provide a different person altogether, due to differences in culture thought at the U.
I like to do both manga and anime alot of times, esp if one of them is really good. A lot of times, manga is alot better than anime, as seen in the likes of Tsubasa Chronicles & Claymore, but there are cases of anime being tons better, like NHK no Youkuso & LoveCom. Also, more than a lot of times, storylines differ too, so I like to see the differences.
But my grading, from the looks of things, tend to be more leinent. :P
You got a point there about Zoro , but I like Luffy because I think that his idiocy is funny beside his great attiude toword the nakam thing.. and for Sanji I like his character his fighting style and whats hooks me the most he respect his job as a cook , he didn't use his hands into fights even if his nick is on the line.
Any how I think you now them better than me since you read the managa... so when this Zoro episodes gone be animated (base on your guess)?
I wonder why Zoro, he's not that active..either he get him self lost or sleeps all the time, although i like him but at 3rd rank after luffy and sanji.
Reading Greck's comment on studies, it's true it's probably better to go overseas, especially if you are intending to follow up on life sciences. Personally, I am against local universities like NUS and NTU because they focus too much on results. Maybe I am the type that goes for the bare minimum as I see excelling results wise and just making it thru gets the same cert after all. Even if there is an honours degree, I can spend the same amount of time getting a masters. Of course, many will disagree with me, but its just my 2 cents.
BTW, looking at your taste in anime, might I suggest giving Special A a try? It's fresh this season, and it kinda reminds me of a cross between Ouran and Gakuen Alice. :P
lol but i think going to the session at ntu would just push u away from nus and back into uncertainty, since they'd be trying to persuade u to go to ntu, no? wow where're u thinking of working in the future? japan, perhaps? ;) overseas is probably better than here anyway. my sister used to work as a microbiology researcher at A*Star at the Biopolis but she transferred to admin work after a while because she didn't feel like she was being very productive there.
*gaah* i haven't even decided if i want to stay in hall or not. home's still much more comfortable and i'd have to take a shuttle bus every morning to law campus because the halls are only at the main kenridge campus. the best would be for me to drive to school, but that would push my expenses through the roof. what a dilemma! everyone still recommends hall for the 1st year to me just for the experience but i think i've played enough in JC...don't want to develop a habit of playing around in university.
lol i've always thought that people liked haruhi because she had...erm...lots of spunk. they think being with a girl who's overflowing with attitude and energy is cool...but yeah, i also see her as just a bully who's used to having her way because everyone's secretly half-in-love with her. and also because she's supposed to be "the goddess" lah.
well i'm not a lawyer yet so u'd have to keep this convo up for another 4-5 years to have a lawyer friend haha! :D lol sorry i'm just kidding. :p
yah people are so gonna stab u if they knew lah! i can imagine all those people on the waiting list anxiously waiting to hear an answer from the universities. they'd get their answer much sooner if people like u decided sooner! >.< then again u should make sure u decide where to go to properly of course. like which one is nearer to home, etc. oh are u gonna be staying in hall btw?
haruhi is so hot...not! her eyes are way too big...not as bad as Kanon but i've never liked that art style.
Hi there. As to your qn why ppl like lucky star, all i know is the show is a parody of other anime and also konata is a hardcore otaku. lol^^ so it capture some of the feelings of people who watch lot of anime>.<
gosh nearly everyone who finds out that i'm going to do law tells me that! >.< lol i can't say i'll bail u out miraculously since people usually get convicted if they ARE guilty of the crime, but i can offer my services regardless. at a good discount, of course. if you're innocent then i WOULD bail u out. or at least i'd try my hardest.
i wouldn't say laws here are very strict; we're SUPPOSED to be as fair as other commonwealth countries (UK and other former british colonies). it's more like it's easier for police to catch people because of all the surveillance systems and the small size of our country, that's all.
well yes i'm starting this august too. my campus is at bukit timah so the chances of us seeing each other is rather low (whoops). but what happened to the ntu thing? i thought u were inching towards that choice?
haruhi is SO overrated haha. i'm saying that for the umpteenth time. i can't criticise lucky star as yet 'cos i've only watched 1 episode and hal will get peeved at me for complaining about an anime after just 1 episode lol.
