B-gata H-kei
add

Both are set at school and have quite similar humor and character types. The protagonists have troubles with confessing their feelings and sometimes choose weird ways to achieve their aims. The female leads are both light-hearted and somewhat naive and have younger sisters who act more mature. You'll find even more in common if you watch both, however, neither series may be called a copycat. The atmosphere is also similar, despite the fact B-gata is more ecchi while School Rumpble is slightly more fantastic and weird.

Yuri!!! on Ice
add

Despite being completely different at a first glance, KnC and Yuri!!! still have a lot in common. In both the protagonist is a beginner connected to art (figure skating is partially art, too) and tries to reach the victory and meanwhile learn to express him/herself through art. As the plots in KnC and Yuri!!! proceed, the protagonist and spectators discover some dramas in other characters' lives, so both titles have a bunch of touching moments along with comedy. And both have highly spirited perfomances accompanied by beautiful music.

Both are comedies that follow a group of schoolgirls and their everyday life, portrayed in random and absurd-like manner. Plastic Neesan contains more ecchi and ecchi-based jokes though.

If you like short hilarious series with minimalistic flash-like artstyle, Bananya and Kuruneko are brilliant choices! Both portray cute cats and relationship between them and are quite the same in mood.

Kyoukai no Rinne
add

Being quite different in mood (Rinne is more light-hearted with a hint of comedy, Jigoku Shoujo is darker and somewhat mysterious), both deal with supernatural, shinigami and the world of spirits/ghosts. The main character doesn't have a family and lives with grandparents, fulfilling contracts for the sake of the other world. Besides, both series start off as a bunch of seemingly unrelated episodes that gradually build into a grasping storyline.

True Tears
add

When watching Kimi ga Nozomu Eien I firstly recalled True Tears. Both tell true-to-life stories about some school friends and show that love may be extremely painful alongside with being pleasant. If to underline, they show how much love may hurt for the very first time. Some intrigues, skeletons and evil plot twists are included, too.

Grope: Yami no naka no Kotori-tachi

The plots of the OVAs are quite different, but both are about a group of friends trapped in some kind of deadlock. Besides, in both situations the influence of the enclosed space is destructive, so the flow of the plot is somehow sad (nevertheless the endings do not match).

Bakemonogatari
add

While watching Cossette no Shouzou, I recalled Bakemonogatari because, in my opinion, they have major similarities. First, both have quite a significant role played by dialogues and are slow-paced and somewhat philosophical. Second, in both, dialogues are supported by visuals (effects and views). Next, both involve atmospheres of darkness, investigation, and mystery. Also, both have a romantic storyline with the hint of supernatural. Last, the overall impression I got while watching these two is that they are quite similar, so if you've liked one of them, try to check the other out.

Hotarubi no Mori e
add

The two movies have different settings (Hoshi wo Ou Kodomo shows another realm, while Hotarubi no Mori e is set in our world with a hint of fantasy) but still sound the same due to the fact that they both mix slice of life and fantasy. Besides, while being light and somewhat romantic both have a sad note, as both deal with another world that is harmed by humans (lost land and the world of spirits accordingly). Besides, both philosophize about distant love and death and are touching and somewhat sad. What's more, both movies have grasping art and show striking landscapes and sceneries. Hotarubi no Mori e similar and Hoshi wo Ou Kodomo have another similarity: they feature a schoolgirl as the lead, which adds to the romantic touch.

Koushoku Ichidai Otoko
add

Both movies have elements of art in them: The Sensualist uses traditional Japanese art while 1001 Nights uses drawings. Both are psychological and highly erotic and introduce abstract things in order to uncover additional meanings. Besides, one of the influential methods in both is the harmonic synthesis of art and sound. Still, 1001 Nights is fully abstract while in The Sensualist story and abstract pieces interchange. As for me, both are striking. So if you've enjoyed one of them you might probably like the other.

Joshikousei: Girl's High
add

Both school comedies share the same spirit. They are totally hilarious and (despite having ecchi moments) aren't that cheesy or vulgar. I'd say they have the proper balance not to go downhill. Both also maintain to stay close to real life - I'm sure everyone (especially girls 'cause Joshi Kousei is about girls) will recognize themselves or their friends...

Hairy Tale is an advertisement, however it and Hana no Kage share the same mood. Both are romantic and somewhat sad stories of forbidden and disapproved love affairs of the past.
