If you like drama based anime, that has the possibility to make you cry, Clannad is a good choice. At least I cried "a lot" during the first season. I think it's very memorable, since I still remember a lot of sad moments. But if you don't want to watch some 50 episodes, try Angel Beats!. It's another drama based anime from the same author and it only has 12 episodes.

I don't rate by "quality", but by my tastes. I really liked Clannad when I watched, and I think I still like. That's why I give it a 10 even nowadays.
