About ArcXIII
I joined this site for the same reason as many others... I like anime. I grew up watching anime like Guyver the Biobooster Armor, Gundam Wing, Martian Successor Nadesico, and all the rest of the shit on Toonami back in the days. If I'm not watching anime, I'm either playing video games or in the great outdoors bow hunting/fishing.

I'm open to the idea of making new friends on here, but please...no random friend requests without even talking to me first @_@

I think I shouldn't read Ichi The Killer so early, because after this manga no guro is too violent, almost nothing moves you... except of amputee hentai, who draws this crap? If you think that was a bad story complete with pointless guro, you should see the infamous Genocyber - this anime takes Elfen Lied to school in terms of being violent for no reason. I did like the art style, plus it has got this charm of old titles, but damn, was that bad... And to think kids in the US rented the VHS of it, thinking it will be a harmless anime like Sailor Moon. Well, almost. What were people saying about Looney Tunes being cruel again? :D

Not really Poland, but our department of Sony. While EA releases Polish versions here too, they always give us the language selection, it's just Sony having heads in their asses, thinking we're too dumb to speak English (and yes, that's basically their explanation, if they think that the word "Infamous" is too hard for us to spell, they must think we're retards). As for the game, I've beaten it today as Evil Cole and I have to admit, it was great. I'm definitely buying Festival of Blood and the sequel. If they fixed the issues with clipping through some textures and Cole grabbing everything while falling, this will get even better. :) Now I'm playing it on Hard as a good guy, that will provide me the next Platinum.

Oh yeah, I've just realized that you've seen the recent chapter of Berserk. You can imagine my hopeless laughter when I've seen this new plot point (that promised land), yet they haven't slain even a single Apostle yet. And so Miura came back to playing Idolm@ster...

VincentArisato | 06-14-13, 1:13 PM
Urgh, Blood-C, why... You really like to torture yourself at times, aren't you? :D

I've finally bought inFamous today, I can already tell that it's better than Prototype with how the world seems to be more lively and tha tit seems to have better characters, but there's one thing that really ruins it for me. Basically, European Sony department decided to sell this game in Poland with Polish dubbing only. That's right, no English. Not only the voices are inferior, but the script is made more children friendly, with "f*ck" replaced by "damn", basically. It's a common thing when it comes to Polish game dubs, that's why I never play the games in my language. Urgh, once again I'm being punished by living outside US as a gamer. Good thing that the sequel is being sold in English here (if you're lucky enough to find it), because the voices make me want to stop playing the game. I just can't get into the story.

Before I started watching it I didn't have very high expectations. At first glance it just looks like cute girls in space (which it is), but there's much more to it than that. Let me say that I'm a fan of space oriented shows so I might be a little biased in my opinion. It is somewhat of a coming of age story though, as Marika is named captain of a spaceship and thrust into the world of pirating and becomes accustomed to her new life.

Except, it isn't pirating in the way you would think, like Captain Harlock. Pirating in Mouretsu Pirates is a form of entertainment. Like if somebody is having a party on a spaceship, they'll hire pirates to put on a play to loot the ship and its passengers of their valuables which is later reimbursed. But the show doesn't center around that aspect much, it focuses on other missions that Marika gets involved with. Of course it isn't as serious as some classic space operas, but I still found most of the arcs really enjoyable and there are more serious moments in the later half of the show. You just have to enjoy it for what it is. I especially loved the characters. Marika is actually an intelligent and capable captain, not just some random ditzy high school girl.

Smirking | 06-04-13, 11:07 PM
Ahh... Nope, sorry to disappoint haha. It's Marika from Mouretsu Pirates.

I know of Emeraldas, but I have yet to watch other Leiji works outside of Galaxy Express and the first season of Yamato so far.

Xenoglossia is from the same team that did the Mai Hime series and they tend to screw everything up by the end of it. Xenoglossia is way different than the rest of the franchise so I tend to kind of view it as it's own thing, as the characters personalities and VAs are different.

I've watched a bit of Puchimas and read and bit of the manga prior to it and it can be pretty fun but for me it's very mood related as to how much I enjoy it. I'd recommend trying it again when you want to watch something silly.

As far as the new game consoles go:

WiiU: Not really impressed but Nintendo's games are practically part of my DNA. When the Fire Emblem crossover game comes out I will buy one.

Xbone: Not interested in anythign they've announced for games, DRM stuff is a deal breaker, I am hoping the largely negative response gets them to change their minds.

PS4: Pretty happy with what they seem to be doing with it and PS3 was my console of choice current gen. Needs more games (I htink Infamous is the only one I plan on getting right now) but it looks like it will be my main console as things currently stand. Prolly won't get at launch though.

What do you think of them.

VincentArisato | 05-29-13, 8:12 AM
I've just beaten Fallout 3, both main story and DLCs. Honestly? I'm very disappointed. It's definitely a game with a lot of content and after doing all of the side quests and DLCs, it easily proved to be the longest PS3 game I've played so far. And yes, there is an effort here, but underneath it, it's as shallow as most of modern games, to my horror. The story, when I finally got to do the story missions in one run, is short, weak and lacking any development or parts when you feel involved. It's really like Rage in this regard, by sticking to this "interactive storytelling" bullshit instead of giving us the character with personality and actual cutscenes. Yes, it is the open game with a lot of choices, but if Arcanum or Mass Effect pulled this out, why not Fallout 3? On top of that, the game is full of bugs, glitches and freezing issues. I think it may be even hazardous to your disc drive with how it struggles to read the damn thing and when you need to restart the console constantly. The game refused to accept the objectives I've clearly finished or made the important characters disappear somewhere. It just looks like, let's be honest, shit, as far as the programming goes. I'm aware that it's because the game is so free in its nature, but if older RPGs with much bigger worlds, like Chrono Cross or Final Fantasy IX, pulled that off, why they couldn't dot hat here? Is it a principle of PC games to make them look like crap? This game reminds me of Gothic series in this regard - same shitty development. The OST of this game would've been nice, but songs get old quickly, same goes to Three Dog's news being repeated over and over. It's like in case of PC games, the creators can't allow to keep their files on the leash, instead making them scatter all over the place. If Okami, one of the greatest games ever made in my opinion, could pull out a beautiful looking world you could explore with less loading times and could keep NPCs and scripts in their place, maybe the developers of PC games should learn a thing or two from console gaming? Overall, I don't think this game is bad, it's just so flawed technically, that it prevents you from having fun, as the game crashes during every single V.A.T.S. sequence during later battles. I wasn't even using this mode because of that. Normally, I'd give it 7/10, but it barely gets 6/10 for the horrendous technical issues. Plus, the shallow story in an RPG, after so many years of this genre, is hard to accept. So far, the best RPG on PS3 I've played is Deus Ex: Human Revolution. I was thinking about trying out New Vegas, but after hearing that it's got even worse bugs and freezing issues than Fallout 3 from everyone, I'll pass for now.

Yeah, you're right about the new consoles. As much as I'm not too fond of PS4, I'm still shocked to admit that Xbox One is the worst contender here. New function - you can watch TV on it. Blocking used games. Having to log in to your account at least once every 24 hours. I think we're going to get a reverse reception now - just like when people gave up on PS3 to get X360, it may be opposite in this regard. But I don't care right now, if I'm going to get another console next year, that will definitely be 3DS - it's got a lot of great games from my favourite franchises, and some I'd like to try out for the very first time.

I actually just picked up my game again. 110 hours later, I finally finished the main quest, lol. I still have the Dark Brotherhood line and the war stuff to get through, after that I think I'll consider it "complete" in my mind. I guess I have 480 MS points and the house/building DLC is 400, so I might check that one out for now. I might just pick it up again in the future to hit up the DLC's sometime.

They removed the level cap with the newest update apparently. Once you get a skill to 100, you can reset it back to 15 and get the perk points to spend again. I think this is how you can somehow abuse the system, find an easy skill to level and just keep restarting it when it's maxed. So I think they did some calculations, and by level 250 something you could have every single skill and perk in the game or something. I don't want to imagine how long that'd take haha.

So far I am way more interested in the PS4. I could give a crap about Kinect, and all this DRM/always online stuff MS is pushing is pretty annoying, and I really don't care for XBL that much honestly. In the last few years it's really just boiled down to playing some new game with friends for a week or two and that's that... not really worth a standalone $60 I'd say, when I can do all that for free elsewhere and use other services I already pay for for free on the PC/PS3 (I've got Amazon streaming now). So if the PS4 is still free online that'll be a huge plus. I do like the 360 controller way more for FPS's, but I think the PS4 controller looks more ideal with the longer handles, so I'm interested to see how that feels.

I guess E3 will be interesting. So far Sony seems to be going in with a bigger focus on gaming this time around, want their console to be program-easy, and are vocal about their support for indie stuff. MS on the other hand are too caught up in ruling your living room and shoving all these features in your face. I like when people point out, you pay for Gold, to get ads in your face? Every dashboard update just gets worse, lol. I just want to play games on the console, is it that hard to ask? lol, I also am not a huge fan of most of Sony's exclusives, but oh well. I don't really feel like Halo is a console seller for me anymore and never totally loved Gears, that kind of seems like that's all MS has right now.

Wii U? lol

Really though I'll get a Wii U someday. Nintendo has their onslaught of first party games, and Zelda. Still the omega console seller to me, such a fanboy haha.

I did just build a good gaming PC though. I got codes for a few games that were great benchmarks. Bioshock Infinite maxed out, Blood Dragon on Ultra, and Crysis 3 defaulted to Very High settings. So it's ahead of the game for now heh. I definitely probably won't buy any of the new systems for awhile. I've got this PC for now and want to play catch up anyways, there's a lot of Wii/PS3 stuff I still wanna hit up.

LOL must have, I'm already lotioning up my hands for him hahaha

MrBattosai | 05-28-13, 11:10 AM
I don't know if you remember me, but I am the guy that promised the creator of Senkai no Moshou a handjob if he finished his series. It seems like he wants one. Shukumei no Shirabe is coming out.

njchopper87 | 05-25-13, 4:42 PM
I do like both, but I think I like the English version better.

VincentArisato | 05-24-13, 11:22 AM
Oh, look! Capco... I mean, Cashwhores made their own Drakengard! *sarcasm* I lost interest when I've seen the name of this company, they're like Japanese EA with how full of crap their attitude towards gamers is. As for the game, I'm not into Fantasy, plus it looks like yet another RPG similar to Dark Souls (Another game I consider overrated), so I'm gonna pass on this one. I can see the appeal for those who like such games, it looks like something decently made, but not for me.

Also, I've managed to beat Rage day before yesterday. How was it? Heh, that's where the hard question kicks in - I'm torn apart. The gameplay IS fun, you can tell that Id weren't fooling around with this thing, but the story... After beautiful Intro movie, which assured me that they should make more emotional games more often, as they seem to know how to involve you emotionally, the game becomes one big fetch quest, then introduces you to the story way too far into the game and finally ends abruptly. The ending is the worst part of the game, actually. It just ends without even showing you the fate of your character and if you succeeded or not. The voice acting is decent and the animations of both NPCs in town hubs and enemies are some of the best I've seen in the FPS. They're rich, the enemies trip over stuff and jump on the sides while charging at you, and there's no ragdoll physics. On the other hand, the actual sandbox is just there to, well, be there, and that's it. There's no reason to explore, you can't even see the full World Map. There are mini games, races, side quests, but the actual storyline is just so short that if I wouldn't play this game on Nightmare difficulty now, I'd probably finish it in 5 hours. For something that got 20 awards on E3, this is seriously underwhelming title. I've heard that the Xbox version got released on 3 DVD discs, if PSX game on 2 CDs could last for weeks, this is a pathethic result, but it seems that next-gens are like that, that's why I'm still looking for trully great game on PS3, no luck so far. Fallout 3 is very good, but it's also not like the games I grew up with. *sigh* I think I'll have to look further, then.

Dremark | 05-21-13, 11:53 AM
There are actually several Idolmster games and Takane is one of the newer cast members. She's not in the version of Idolmaster SP that I own and I didn't play with her as the leader in Idolmaster 2 so I am not really sure if they go into her background much. If you have a modded PSP or want to use an emulator I think at least one of the character routes for Idolmaster SP: Wandering Star is translated. Takane is the rival character in that and part of 961 production which is how she was introduced to the series (The games basically all have their own continuity).

Yeah I'm generally pretty good at getting an understanding of what other people like and even though I'm not as up to date on anime as I used to be, I'd like to think I'm still pretty good with recommendations. My memory is pretty sharp too so I can remember a lot about stuff you liked, disliked and more importantly why.

In the case of Idolmaster it's a bit of a tough sell because the first couple of episodes are rather unimpressive. It's a shame that it is that way as a lot of people get turned off right at the start. In all honesty if I wasn't already a fan of the games I might not have continued with it and I had low expectations going in. It was actually a real surprise that it became a legitimately good series.

Your idea for another Macross doesn't sound that unlike the AKB0048 series.

IAmSovereign | 05-18-13, 7:10 AM
Yes, my A level exams. You're lucky btw, having a set goal for your career. I'm just... doing whatever comes next, no real passion for anything specifc yet.

Also, thank you for striking up this conversation. :) I write usually to improve my english, so if there are errors or if my tempo or grammar or choice of words or things like that is out of place, please excuse it. One of the areas I usually get stuck on is my sentences end up being very long. haha. i cant help it. :D

I finished a review on School Days recently. I hope its not too annoying or pompous to advertise for your thoughts? :)

VincentArisato | 05-18-13, 5:03 AM
Heh, at least I've found someone else who doesn't see the appeal of Borderlands. Everyone are so much into this game and I can't comprehend why it's being rated so high even by the reviewers whose opinions I agree with for the most part. As for Rage, I'll let you know if it's good or not once I'll start playing it.

Hell yes, Vanquish :D It was the first PS3 game I've played and one of the titles I've bought the console for. It's amazing to look at and even better to play, you should try it out yourself :D I remember that my friend came over when I wa splaying it for the first time and we just stated that this game is best to enjoy in group - one guy keeps playing, the other is sightseeing. *laughs* I think it is the best game Platinum made so far, Bayonetta was good, but didn't click on me with its hardcore nature of punishing difficulty and dragged rail shooting sections, but I think it was a good game nevertheless. Metal Gear Rising on the other hand is definitely more like Vanquish though, but while Platinum used their trademark theme of making a game short, but with multiple playthroughs in mind, it still isn't as awesome as Vanquish was. The only complain I had with Vanquish was the lack of any unlockables, aside of God Hard difficulty and punishingly hard Tactical Challenges, which only give you a Trophy in the end.

Speaking of games like Vanquish, have you played Binary Domain? It's also known as Sega's Mass Effect, and now that I've played this game, I can definitely tell why. Not only the characters carry their guns in the exact same way, they also tried to make it heavier on your teammates. To be fair, I'd love to see this game becoming a franchise, but poor sales will most likely prevent that. Too bad, because it's a nice Cyberpunk themed TPS, with some good comic relief. The main downside compared to Vanquish though is that sometimes the game has problems with handling its awesomeness and starts lagging as hell, to the point I wondered if the damn robot spider, which looks like Nissan commercial which crawled out of the asshole of H.R. Giger's nightmare because of how polished it is, would make my game crash for good if he would only be one meter taller.

There's only one instance I can tolerate Vocaloids, and that's Peace Walker. Hideo Kojima made a great choice by making Miku-powered weapons of destruction :D I don't know how he came up with it, but I was laughing my ass off everytime I had to fight these things - all sound like Miku. PW is actually the most commercial MGS game, and it seems Kojima wanted to promote Vocaloids as well, at least he did it in interesting concept. As for analogies, they're my usual sense of humour. *laughs* I've started watching Yahtzee's little reviews month ago and was pleasantly surprised to find a succesful critic who has a similar sense of humour to mine, just with a lot of spiders :D It's not like I'm agreeing with him on every case, like when he criticised Metal Gear Rising's OST or 3D Castlevania games on PS2, but for the most part I appreciate how you can trust him more than IGN and Gamespot combined.

I think I actually liked Shoku more, even if these CG snails looked damn grating *laughs*
