First of all, I'm not a horror fan. I'm a fan of good puzzles, emotional scenes, in-depth characters and while I don't refuse super natural occurences in animes, I still want a story to be consistent with itself. If there are angels, that get explosive diarrhea, when you take off their halos, then I won't raise an eyebrow over that, as long as all other angels behave the same way.
I had high hopes for this anime, but as you can see from the score I gave this, it couldn't live up to my expectations. Feel free to get a glimpse of someone who didn't enjoy the anime as much as most reviewers.
Story: 3
The story is about Yomiyama North - a school in the ciity with the given name and its class 3 where accidents happen that lead to the deaths of students and/or relatives of them.
Kouichi Sakakibara is a transfer student who happens to transfer to this particuliar school and of course that particular class. He gets to know Misaki Mei - a girl that sits right at the utmost corner of the class room and there the mystery begins.
Except for Kouichi everyone seems to ignore the girl however. As she was not even there...
This is the intro to the series and they reason I got so hooked up on it. However, the mystery is solved pretty early in the series and from there on the story gets worse and worse.
Lots of misdirections are shown, that prove to be of no revelance to the plot at all! This series only has 12 episodes (13 if you count the very well-made OVA) and after watching all of them, roughly half of them are a complete waste of time.
A lot of characters die due to the mentioned accidents, but I could only feel kinda sorry for them to die in such cruel ways. The show failed to build up on any emotional bond to the characters.
Even at the end I didn't go like "Whoah, so this person was the 'Another'. I never saw that coming, but it makes sense!", but rather "This person? Errr... right.". The forshadowing was just too shallow for me to actually take note of it, so it left a disappointed feeling.
Art: 9
The art is very well-made. I liked the sudden overlays, that showed decapitated dolls. The backgrounds and characters all look really good and detailed.
Sound: 9
You get to hear a great disturbing opening song that fits the series well and the voice acting has been been solid to very good as well. The series even included the Higurashi sound at certain parts, which made for an excellent atmosphere.
Character: 3
Kouichi Sakakibara
This guy is the main character: very standard and nothing really exciting. He tries to solve the mystery of the deaths, but after like half of the episodes, he doesn't really do anything interesting or relevant to the plot and becomes an observer. He is not unlikable or anything, just boring.
Mei Misaki
The mysterious girl of the series. She is very shy and Kouichi is the only person she gets close to in the series. Still she doesn't tell Kouichi the most important thing (about the 'Another') until the very end, which made me dislike her, even though I liked her in the beginning. In a way she is responsible for each death in the class and this fact is downplayed in a way, that ruined the story for me.
### minor spoilers ahead ###
The other characters are all really standard and for some reason almost every single one of them gets paranoid in the end. Hell, the characters in the last two episodes behave so downright ridiculous, that I couldn't follow the story anymore. A side-character suddenly starts to go on a rampage, a fire breaks out and people die. However, none of this is explained. It was stated earlier in the show, that only one person died per month. Why was this overthrown? Why is everybody suddenly going nuts?
After that the viewer is presented the 'Another' as a final conclusion and I thought of this person as a side-character the whole show!
### end of spoilers ###
Enjoyment and Overall: 5
While I did enjoy some parts of the anime and especially the beginning, the last episodes ruined it for me. I wouldn't recommend this anime to any of my friends, but that doesn't mean that I consider it bad either.
One memorable scene for me was the classroom scene with Kouichi and Mei. I don't want to spoil it for you, but that has to be the funniest scene I've seen for a long time. It's only a few seconds long, but you'll recognize it, when you see it.
Overall a decent anime with some weak points (story) and some strong points (art + atmosphere). Also it has a fan-service episode at the beach (one does not simply... not include a beach scene with cute grils in bikinis in an anime). If you are into horror and don't care as much for logic as I do, this anime might be just the thing for you. read more

I'm a fan, but I try to keep this review from being biased as much as possible.
This anime is shocking for a lot of people, so keep these things in mind:
Do not take this anime seriously. I'm serious. Really, don't. Actually I'm not serious. Because you can't be serious after having watched that anime!
Do mind, that this anime is still light-hearted, even if it appears to be extremly violent. There are no consequences for anything. That's the main reason, why I'm able to laugh about it so hard.
The story is stupid as hell and people die for no reason at all, all the time. If you like ridiculous amounts of non-sense, stupidity, parody, trolling and enjoy dark humor, this anime is for you.
I don't want to go further in detail about the content, because it's pretty unique, so if you are still curious about this anime, I suggest you watch 2 minutes of it and ask yourself:
Did I find it fun?
If you didn't, you shouldn't bother to watch the rest of it, because the sense of humor is constant and story or character development is non-existant.
If you did, however, then feel free to watch the rest, because the quality stays the same throughout all 8 episodes (13min length each)!
Have fun and enjoy yourself! read more
