We have very similar stories. I am going into my first year of college in a few weeks. Like you, I also got a bit burned out when in high school and never completely recovered. I was very busy during the past couple of school years, which was part of the problem. When I was so busy with work, I stopped watching anime, and now I haven't been able to dive back into it the way I want to. Even during the summer I am not watching multiple episodes a day like I used to. Some weeks I will watch a few episodes, and other weeks I will watch none at all. From 2013-2015 I watched anime constantly, but I have struggled to watch it at even half the rate I used to. It doesn't help that I jammed myself up by starting way too many shows at once. Now I am in the process of finishing everything I started and watching all the second seasons I have yet to see, so I am unable to start any new series. During the summer I have so many other things I want to do (watch non-anime shows, play video games, read all the books I own but never read, spend time with people, etc) that I often don't have a ton of time for anime. Other times I'm just not really in the mood. I definitely haven't lost interest in it though I cause I still enjoy watching it.

It's funny cause most people on this website who I talk to are in very similar situations as the two of us. We are all just about the same age, too (late high school or in college). Though I guess that is the average age range of an anime fan.

I looked back at my first profile comment and remembered that it was you. That was about four years ago.

How are you?
