About Andy_86
Hey everyone. My name is Andy and I live in Canada; the place where we all walk our pet beavers on the streets without leashes. But seriously, this site is awesome for anime and manga users alike. I have been watching anime on and off for quite a while now, but it has only been recently that I've started to really get into it. I enjoy everything about anime, from the story to the characters to the art designs, and the fact that they are just plain fun to watch. I hope to have a good time here, so please feel free to add me as a friend. :-)

The next several paragraphs explain why my anime list scores appear to be soft, so don't read it if you don't to. I just feel that I owe an explanation to people who use my anime list as a rating guide for what they may want to watch.

At first glance, it is apparent that I rate almost everything at least a seven (or good), with my lowest being a six (or fine) so far. One reason is because I almost completely disregard the score of five or lower. If I think that anything that an anime is going to score lower than a six, than I do not waste my time watching it to begin with. That being said, I rely a lot on the reviews of everyone at this site, and not just by the rankings of that particular anime. And of course, if I can sit there and watch an entire series, movie, OVA, etc. than I think that it deserves on most part at least a six, but that is just my opinion. Again, since I don't have any anime rated under a six, there is a huge gap between every number above the six mark.

To explain, I'll start off with the six. A six to me is entertaining enough to watch, but I actually kind of regret it by the time I'm done watching it. It's like, well, "I could have done something better with my time". A seven is an anime that is just plain entertaining. They're usually enough to make me feel satisfied after I'm through the show, but nothing special of course. A score of eight is "good". By that, I mean good enough to watch at least several scenes (not episodes) over, if I have the time. Now the nine and ten rating. A nine and ten are animes that I find awesome. They both leave me feeling super elated. A score of nine or ten are animes that I will watch again and again in the years to come. The major difference between a nine and ten score, is that a nine score may start off slow but it will build up to the climax near the end of the story. A ten score is an anime that is just perfect from beginning to end with several climaxes in the show. I would highly recommend watching anything that I rate a nine or ten, but please don't get upset with me if they don't meet up with your standards. :-)

As for the stuff that I dropped in my anime list, I have only "dropped" them because I caught an episode or two of it (usually at least several episodes into the show). From there, I just pasted any anime that I've seen an episode of, but never finished the show, into the "dropped" category.

I hope that this explained my scoring system a bit better to everyone, and I thank you for taking the time if you read it. Please let me know if you have seen and agree with any of my nine and ten score animes, and drop a comment. Thanks again! :-)

Also, some of my other favorite anime, in no particular order, are...

- Top wo Nerae!
- Kanon (2006)
- Clannad
- Death Note
- Soukyuu no Fafner: Right of Left

I knew Gundam was big but not that big lol. Thanks for the info! It answered all of my questions. For now Gundam 00 S2 is looking good. Maybe after I'm done with this one I'll look into some of the other promising titles you mentioned.

Clannad ~After story~ is looking rather good too but I still like KEY/KyoAnime earlier works better than Clannad like Air TV and Kannon. Clannad feels like something that I’ve already watched but in a different settling. It's still great but not as breathtaking as its predecessors. Although I'm hoping that Clannad will have a different ending.. I'm sure they will not change it.

On a different subject, any idea when do they plan on doing FMP S3? TSR was way too short! It’s already been 3 years and there isn’t any news about it. There are so many things that the anime didn’t cover. Maybe Kyoto Animation can work on it after they’re done with Clannad ~After Story~ AND The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya S2. I’m sure there are plenty of material from books and novels they can use. Sigh, I miss FMP.

Cheers.

I haven't finished the series yet, but I plan to watch every second of every series that factors with it.

And no I haven't read the manga. To be honest I haven't had the chance to read a manga in months. > w >

It's too bad you, one of the few anime fans who has added me with a high compatibility, had to be a guy called Andy. :/

But, forgetting that, I'm glad you've passed my test by proving yourself to be human. Since you liked my review and can speak, I'll allow you to have a stay of execution on my friends list.

That said, later!

Hey!

I'm currently in the process of removing the annoying people who keep adding me without even saying a word to me. So, please fill out the following form to tell me who you are, why you added me and how you found me...

...or, you could just comment back and confirm you aren't a spambot. I hate spambots.

I'm guessing you added me after seeing my FMP: TSR review? You seem to be a fairly big FMP fan...

Rabbitpoets got me into Gundam. He recommended me Gundam 00 a few weeks back so I gave it a try and loved it. If the other Gundam series are as good as this one then I can see why it’s so popular. As of right now, I’m following the S2 of Gundam00 weekly so feel free to drop a comment if you feel like discussing any ep of S2 :)

Say, I got a question about the Gundam world since you seem to be the expert here: Are all the stories in the Gundam somehow related? Are they complete separate stories and world with different characters each time? Are they in some chronological order? And what other Gundam series would you recommend that is as good as or better 00?

Yes I think I’ll be following VK this season and possibly Clannad After Story as well… reason I’m not so pumped up about it is bc I already watched the Clannad movie a while back so I know how this ends…

Cheers.

Hey Andy. How's it going. Anything you're looking forward this fall =D ?

zilch | 10-03-08, 9:24 PM
Code Geass is such a great series. The first season was simply amazing. Nevertheless, Code Geass R2 for most part doesn’t live up to the first season as the producers tended to overuse certain aspects of the show thus changing the overall image of the series. Having said that, after so many cliffhangers since the first episode and throwing at us countless plot twits. Somehow, Sunrise manages to come up with a great and satisfactory way to end this series. So yes, the last episode is the best of R2 assuming that what is hinted in the last part it's true, that is, that Lelouch is alive after all :) Everything was just as planned

zilch | 09-30-08, 7:45 PM
Now what everyone is talking about.. :drums:

What did you think of the ending of Code Geass R2? Did it meet your expectations?

Since I already recommened Spice and Wolf. I'll tell you this:
After the Happy Ending of Code Geass => Spice and Wolf story.
Lelouch becomes a merchant and changes his name to Lawrence Kraft (main of SW). They have the same seiyuu and the story may match! Twist!

I watched the Rebuild of Evangelion the other day.
They did reuse a lot of the same scenes and it was basically the first episodes compressed into a movie, removing the less important moments. Anyway, for what I can remember I could only picked up 1 or 2 new scenes (the Lilith part for instance I think) then again it's been 8 years since I watched the original series wow.. my memory is a bit rusty.

Shinji is still a wuss, Gendo is still a jerk, Misato still likes beer too much and I still feel sorry for Rei. Hehe, Good times!

Currently, I'm hoping for the next movie come out next year: Evangelion: 2.0 Division. I definetly want to see more about about the alternate retelling of the TV series AND of course a completely different ending.

P.S: I'm sure we can all agree that the movie needed MOAR Pen-pen.

And for recomendations. If you're into Slice-of-life anime you should give "Honey and Clover" (26eps) and maybe "Spice and Wolf" (13 eps) a try. You might like them :D

Hiya, Andy. I watched Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo the other night. I can see why it's in your fav list. It was a very nice movie.

I think I'll watch Rebuild of Evangelion this weekend. How was it? Was it actually much better the original?

theeggman85 | 09-07-08, 11:53 AM
gosh, i honestly cant remember. i think i came by it on accident searching for new good animes (kind of like you) and then i started using it more and more from there :)

theeggman85 | 09-05-08, 3:17 PM
I think it combines ratings with percentage of shared anime somehow... i dunno. so what brings you to MAL?
