About AndrewB
Hey, I'm Andrew. When I was really young I loved shows like Dragon Ball, Inuyasha, Shaman King, Naruto etc, but my parents wouldn't let me watch them because of the violence they contain. Fair enough, I guess, but every chance I got I would sneak into the TV room, put the volume on low, and watch whatever was on. Years later and I'm now in my late teenage years. A friend of mine reintroduced me to anime with Death Note, beginning a full-fledged addiction. I love anime now. The audacious art styles, beautiful soundtracks, unforgettable characters that make me see myself in fictional heroes. But I'm only starting out.

Haha thanks for the compliment, my forum signature/avatar is not from any anime but it is an original drawing by a Japanese artist named HJL. Here is his website if you want to see his other work.

I'm not the best at explaining what things are about, I tend to give the whole story away, so I'll just give you the basics that most descriptions of the show have!

Fullmetal Alchemist is about two young brothers Edward and Alphonse Elric who are alchemists. Their dad Hohenheim, who is also an alchemist, leaves when they are young and a few years later their mother Trisha dies. They decide they want her back and commit the ultimate taboo in alchemy, human transmutation. Their attempt to bring her back fails which causes Ed to lose his left Leg and Al his entire body. After Alphonse is taken by the gate Edward sacrifices his right arm to attach Al's soul to a suit of armour.

Later a state alchemist, Roy Mustang, visits Ed and Al and suggests Ed should become a state alchemist. After Edward's limbs are replaced with automail by their friend Winry Rockbell and her grandmother Pinako the brothers head to Central. After taking the exam Edward becomes a state alchemist at only 12 years old and is now known as the Fullmetal Alchemist. Being a state alchemist gives Edward access to money and resources that could help the brothers restore their bodies.

They set out on a quest for the legendary philosophers stone and along the way uncover some dark things about alchemy, their country Amestris and the military.

The show can be sad and dramatic at times but it also has plenty of action and comedy!

I get that. I was gutted when L died and since he'd been in the show for 25 episodes it took me by surprise. I thought he'd survive until atleast the last few episodes. L vs Light had been a big part of the show right from the start and then for him to die and have two new characters to replace him who just could not match up, for me anyway, was a disappointment. I didn't mind Near or Mello though but they just weren't L.

I considered all of the show when I rated it. There was something else other than that which stopped be giving the anime a 10. I can't think what it was though, there was just something. I don't think I'm ever going to find any other shows I feel worthy of a 10. :( I was wondering, have you seen the live actions of Death Note?

:D I'll be watching it a night! Usually when I watch anything the time I enjoy it most is at night. I can really get into something when it's dark as there are less distractions. Though I always watch Hunter x Hunter (2011) on Sunday mornings mostly because I can't wait all day to watch it.

By the way if you watch all 51 episodes of FMA remember to watch the movie Conqueror of Shamballa afterwards as it is a sequel to that series! :-D I hope you like FMA and FMA:B as much as I did! I won't believe you if you hate it! To me it just doesn't seem possible for anyone to hate them. That's probably because I adore both shows though! :)

Hello! Thanks for reading it I appreciate that you took the time to! It is good to know that I'm not the only person with few people to discuss anime with. It would be really great to talk to you and I too think we will get along well. :)

I've had a look at your list, you're right that we don't share many of the same animes but that's fine. I saw that we've both rated Death Note a 9 and Elfen Lied a 7! Both good animes, though it has been a long time since I've watched Elfen Lied. I'll probably rewatch it to see if my memories of it were correct. What stopped you giving Death Note a 10?

Oh, and I noticed you have watched Shiki and rated it a 10. I had thought about watching it a while ago so I've added it to my plan to watch. It has been licensed for release in the UK so I'll probably wait for the DVD. I'm looking forward to it.

Anyway if you're open to suggestions from your list it seems you haven't watched Fullmetal Alchemist or FMA:Brotherhood, unless you haven't added them to your list yet. If you haven't seen them then I recommend you watch them. I'm more than a little obsessed! :D

I'll end it there as it's getting late for me and once it gets past a certain time I just can't sleep. That means having to listen to my brothers very loud TV through the wall. He always plays games like Call of Duty late at night so it sounds like there's a war going on plus people are always arguing on it.

Wow, I just read your review for Shiki and I have to say it was an excellent review :D I now know that I need to put a LOT more detail into my reviews.

Anyways, thanks again for the advice.

Haha, I had a feeling it wouldn't be that great xD Like I said though, that was my first review, I'm not really used to this sort of thing and written English wasn't exactly my best subject in school :P

Thanks for the advice though, I'll keep it in mind if I ever write a review again. :)

Damn, your parents wouldn't let you watch anime? That sucks bro.

Recommendations:

Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni- Mystery/Thriller, one of my favorite animes

Saikano- You will shed buckets of tears.

Steins;Gate- You will laugh, you will cry, and you will love that crazy motherfucker Okabe.

Cowboy Bebop- Classic, everyone should have watched this.

Code Geass- Now you probably won't enjoy this that much if you are reasonably intelligent but you should watch just to say you did lol.
