:) Slam Dunk is pretty great isn't it. The first anime I fell in love with actually. I watched it sooooo loooong ago. Ever since I watched it, basketball has become a big part of my life haha
Take note that the scores on my list are all given out at different times of my life. Shingeki no Kyojin most likely wouldn't get one now because my tolerance for those type of entertainment has fallen. Steins;Gate was once my favorite but its lost its shine now. I watched Clannad when I wasn't exposed to much melodrama so it hit me harder than it would now (although I have this ability to really suspend all my disbelief when it comes to melodrama). Likewise my appreciation for cinematography has also changed over the times so Cowboy Bebop may be bumped up to a 10 if I rewatch it, as would FLC and Futakoi AlternativeL. Likewise I have a friend who worships White Album 2, and another that worships Azumanga Daioh, Nagi no Asukara and Chuunibyou, although all 3 of us generally has the same favorite-core. Also my score range is 8-10 since I don't believe in giving works which I don't particularly like a score, and neither do I like to downplay works by making reviews about bad things (why would you want to waste your time talking about things you don't like, except as education material?). There are a lot of 8s and 9s which I might re-evaluate one day.
So the best thing is still to take faith in the artist and just watch everything that interests you, and even when you come across something you absolutely despise you can still try to draw things from it (which is why its important to develop visual literacy or know shot analysis and be really focused when watching so you can see all levels from story to sound to visuals). As taught by Shirobako, even the worst out there was born from labour, stress and sweat.
