As you can see, we have quite the long lineup of girls for our first round. Half of them will be eliminated after this round, though, so please vote to help us decide who stays and who goes![/color]

P.S. Due to the club having so many members, we aren't able to send out newsletters to all of our members. If you would like to receive newsletters from the Slice of Life Club, post here.
Our newsletters include notifications on when our competition rounds start, club event information, information on our monthly banner contest (new feature starting in September), news about updates and changes to the club, etc.

P.S.S We are in need of active card makers!
We do a few monthly editions and we really need some more card makers to help out with those. If you are interested in applying, click here.

Hi, hope you are doing fine. I haven't been on MAL for weeks. I finally changed the job I wasn't happy with. My new job combines IT knowledge with customer service. It is pretty hard for me, since I have to learn many things. Also it is a big office with 200 persons. However they are all pretty nice guys and girls. There are metal fans with tattoos and piercings, gamers and anime fans here.

It's OK I love reading long texts.

I always get fat and fat while I am in exams week. And my face gets full of acnes >____<
And my exams ended probably I fucked up so badly. I need a miracle >___<

I hope you did fine with your exams. Nowadays I see John Green's The Fault in Our Stars everywhere. Maybe it's because its movie is out. And have u seen its IMDB score?http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2582846/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1
I wonder whether it deserves that score. Even Frances Ha got 7.5. It's not fair.

I'm sorry for your loss. Also my grandfather died because of the cancer.

OMG I really liked Midsummer's Eve. It's quite beautiful that you still celebrate your pagan holidays. Unfortunately we don't have stuff like that. We have 2 religiousn holidays. One is boring the other one is felonious. Before Islam, we used to believe in Shamanism and it's not that different from paganism. And we had holidays before we became Muslim.

I also don't care about BL neither GL. But you know it's kind of weird when a boy reads a shounen ai or yaoi but it's alright when a girl reads yuri or shoujo ai. It's just not fair.

Atwood is Canadian. And nowadays I'm obsessed with Canada. Maybe I can sav money to visit there or I can study there for a year with student exhange programs

Ahhh to be completely honest, I don't watch a lot of K-drama XD
I want to watch some... but each episode is so long, and there's always more dramas coming out LOL it's too hard to keep up so I gave up and just stuck with anime.
I think I watched a total of... 7 K-dramas in my life haha.

Hmmm the drama "Gu Family Book" was pretty good if you don't mind watching stuff set in the olden times (and by olden times I mean like... back when the country was ruled by dynasties and stuff haha). "Shining Inheritance" was pretty good, but it's an older series. My first korean drama was "You're Beautiful" and I really liked that one too haha. Oh, and the classic "Boys Over Flowers"

I just watch stuff like "Inkigayo" or "Music Bank"... once in a while I watch "Running Man" ahaha
GhostOutOfShell Jun 19, 2014 8:56 AM
Countryside(and etc.)>Tourist paradise. Well imo at least. As i preffer seening culture of other countries and just daly live of people than just spending my time in beach. (To be honest i hate swimming, beaches, hot days etc.)

I have been in Italy, most main cities like Rome, Venice etc., Vatican and Poland.

Yeah we just call it a little diferent in my country. (John's Day)

Hi. I have been away for a while, as I have a pretty busy schedule these days. I wake up, get a shower, then it is work, dinner, football and sleep for me. I am not sure which day it is anymore. I am not complaining. I am actually having a good time, but days feel kind of too short to do all you want to do.
Oh, that paroxysmal vertigo sounds scary. Are you feeling alright now or it still happens? I have never passed out in my life, unless I count one-two occasions, when I got really drunk.
Do you have many antiquarian bookstores? That sounds nice. We only have flashy bookstores which sell only new books. We have a plaza in the centre with open air stands which only sell books and you could find used books in there. It is really nice place, with old buildings, big library, a cinema I used to love as a kid, but it no longer exists and a bench with two live size bronze statues of our famous writers sitting on it and discussing things. They look like two elderly gentlemen with mustaches and retro clothes and they really create atmosphere, you know.
Ha, The Dark Tower n.6 was the worst book in the series. Your logic seems adequate, the owner must have hated it. The same goes for the Belgariad , which is one of those books for kids I mentioned. I believe many people read as kids and liked it. I read it much later and hated it. It wasn't written well, the humor it is famous for was annoying and the characters were terrible. Not to mention it includes the overused plot with a chosen hero, who is a kid from a farm.
I managed to read some manga. I read the one about this Emanon girl. I wasn't impressed. Did I missed something? Was she a fairy, spirit, kappa or something? Why was she walking around naked? I am having more fun reading Gamaran. Its about a tournament and it seems our teenage protagonist is going to become the strongest swordmaster in Japan. And he wants to kill his father, who I believe has betrayed their sword schoold and killed all his friends. He is like Sasuke from Naruto, but with less emo.
GhostOutOfShell Jun 17, 2014 4:42 AM
Well i'm not surprised that you haven't heard any lithunianian authors, i mean almost no one outside of my country have heard about those.
Crime & Punishment is one of my favorite books of all time.

Scenographer sounds like also a very interesting field of studies.

Anyways have you ever been in any other foreigin counties besides Estonia?
miichiin Jun 15, 2014 3:13 PM
Haha XD it's great that we have so much in common~

Hmmm for vocaloids, I never really liked any... but if I have to choose, I would say Luka and GUMI just because they sound the most... natural I guess? Miku's pitch is high and she sings quite fast so.. (> <)
Originally, I wasn't the biggest fan for Rin & Len either, but after listening to "Daughter of Evil" series I just fell in love :'D
I also like IA :D I haven't really kept up with the newer vocaloids (lol, more old school me) like Yowane Haku or Lily (not sure if you can really call those "new") but yea... I'm not too familiar with them. As for Utauloids... the only I actually know is Teto, so I guess I'm not that engrossed in it either ahaha
but I'm the biggest fan of utaite :'D
Soraru, Gero, 96neko, Nano, Halyosy, Hanatan, Lon... the list goes on forever haha

but yea :D you should definitely check out some of the older kpop groups~~
I'm trying to keep with the newer groups as well XD but there's always so much, it's quite a handful lol
I've been a huge SHINee fan haha... I think... it was Lucifer that got me interested~ despite the... peculiar MV XD
Anyways, our of curiosity - do you watch K-drama or Korean reality shows? :o

neonstripedzebra Jun 15, 2014 12:43 PM
It's OK I had my uni exams and they will end next sunday. SO I could not reply messages til today

I think I'm doing fine but I feel a bit nervous due to stress. What about you?

I haven't read mangas that often. Actually I did not read for a long time. But I've been watching Utena and it's quite amazing. Even though it's a little bit repetitive but the symbolism in it is awesome. There are some BL and GL subtext

My cousine is in USA and she will briing me Margaret Atwood's books. Have u read any books of hers? They are not translated in Turkish unfortunately
GhostOutOfShell Jun 15, 2014 8:07 AM
Well lately i have not been reading anything just because i do not have enough free time, plus i usually borrow books from library and i would not be able to return them in time, especially taking in consideration all upcoming exams.

I do not really mind genres, as far as picking fictional books i just usually go by the author, there are few lithuanian author i like, many from wester europe like H. Hesse or W. Shakespeare, but my most favorite ones are russians like F. Dostoyevsky or V. Nabokov.
When i will have some free time i planing on also reading some stuff writen by L. Tolstoy.

By the way till wich degree you are planing to take your studies?
(At the moment i'm studying for professional bachelor degree, but if every thing goes fine i'm planing on taking master degree.)
miichiin Jun 14, 2014 9:09 PM
Ahaha don't worry about ranting.. because you are about to read one XD

Anyways, nice nice :) I know what you mean, when I was younger no one shared my taste of music either. But for the Jrock and Kpop thing, my situation was kind of opposite from yours XD

I started Kpop almost 10 years ago haha
So I've been a fan of Big Bang since their debut XD "Haru Haru" and "Lies" are still my favourite songs to this day~~

Anyways, back then, the only anime I would watch were like InuYasha and stuff. I usually just stuck with reading manga rather than watching anime. After I got into the whole anime phase, I became obsessed with Jrock LOL mainly starting from OSTs as well. I got into Nico Nico Chorus/Utaite stuff a few years back since I was never really a huge fan of vocaloids. Yea... so up to this day, I'm still a huge fan of both genres.

Hmmm, as for Kpop, I began with Big Bang. From there, it became
2NE1, Se7en, Tablo/Epik High, After School (I'm not a huge fan of Orange Caramel though D:). B2ST, Troublemaker, SHINee, Super Junior, not a huge fan of Girls, Generation (but still like some of their songs), f(x), T-ara, DBSK, 2PM, F.T. Island, C N Blue, BAP, (not crazy over EXO either, but I did like Growl), 4Minute, IU, GNA, Ailee, Juniel, GOT7, Infinite, Teen Top, 100% is getting there, F.cuz is getting there, SISTAR, miss A, MBLAQ, Rain, SS501, KWill, Kara, Ga-In/Brown Eyed Girls, Secret, Nu'est, Jay Park, JYJ, U-Kiss... and I will stop now because I can keep this up forever ahaha
but from the list, you can tell I'm more into the older groups (>v<;)
I saw Boyfriend when they debuted and... other than SHINee... I never really fell for the "cute" boy theme (although they did change their image afterwards) so I'm not a huge fan of them yet XD

I should really stop rambling now... LOL
GhostOutOfShell Jun 14, 2014 1:35 PM
It's always good to have more than one choice, especially with something as important as studies. To be honest back when i was choosing what to study i just pick stuff randomly for the most part, my first choice was philosophy, but as i didn't really care for my grades back in school, i could not study philosophy for free so i end up at IS studies.

I might be soon taking Madara out of my favorite characters, as it's in the last place from those ten so if i find something i like more he will drop out. :/

As i see you enjoy reading, what type of literature do you prefer? And who would be your favorite authors?

P.S. It's nice to see you are back on track with your activity on MAL. ^^
zealot7 Jun 14, 2014 10:20 AM
Oh I wasn't a very naughty kid but still had two incidents in my childhood. One was falling from a bike and resulted in a sprained ankle. Second was a craked (not broken) bone. I had a fight in 6th grade and the other guy kicked me and injured my foot. I stayed two weeks at home and actually had fun.
Yep, Stephen King is not one of my authors neither. I remember only liking his book "Eyes of the dragon". I read it many years ago, because it was a fantasy novel and it was good. Well I am not sure if I will like it now. Some books I liked as a kid dont seem that interesting now. Before I thought the Chronicles of Amber is the best fantasy ever created. Now I still love it but I would put in my top 5.
Oh truth to be told the top 100 books list contained some books I had already completed and some I refuse to read (including Harry Potter and The Belgariad). I read hated those series from the first book and never bothered with the rest. Is that a cheating :)
Ok, that is a good idea. I will catch up with Claymore and Vagabond manga. Bye.
miichiin Jun 14, 2014 9:44 AM
Oh yea~
I'm a fan of both, can't decide between the two <3 (Kpop and Jrock that is)
Do you listen to other Kpop groups besides the ones from YG? (*u*)
GhostOutOfShell Jun 13, 2014 2:52 AM
Watchmaking sound very interesting, even to i guess it's very precise.

Btw as i see you changed your profile picture, i love this one. :) Gives such a dark yet beautiful atmosphere.
It’s time to ditch the text file.
