After being drawn into the style of art and storytelling that embodies much of anime after watching shows like Inuyasha, I eventually found myself exploring other types of anime, opening a path to myself that led to Hayao Miyazaki.
I pretty much loved all of the English dubbed movies he did, some more than others, probably most of all his Princess Mononoke or Howl's Moving Castle. While neither of them are perfect, they carried some very good messages that I thought and still think are very virtuous.
I suppose my love for anime sprouts from that, and my love for the Japanese culture that I believe makes Western culture pale in comparison. Now I'm dabbling in all sorts of genres, trying to find intellectually grasping entertainment, or even clever sorts on the opposite side of the spectrum. A harsh critique at heart, I'll try and find an anime I'll actually think of deserving a title of being "perfect" (I haven't found it yet, but many of my "favorite anime" listed here and in the left sidebar probably come extremely close), at the same time as trying to find anime that simply entertains as much as possible.

Great review of Toki oh Kakeru Shoujo, highly overrated and hollow story. I on the other hand gave it a 6. Then it seems like they try to fix the whole movie with Chiaki saying "Oh Im glad an idiot found the space walnut"....riiiiiight...lame.

I REALLY liked your noein review. FINALLY SOMEONE WHO AGREES WITH ME. I like your list too. I was wondering if you've ever given Monster a try... I just finished it...and it is really good (intellectually challenging, brilliantly written, some of the most well developed characters i have ever seen in an anime). Judging from your anime list, I think it would be right up your alley.

Ahh yes, I'm actually already loving it :) Its starting to pick up now, and get really interesting. I can already tell it's going to be something great. From what I can tell, Hei looks like he can kick ass xD, Yin looks like she will be really interesting, and the talking cat confuses me O.o bu8t it's cool lmao
