About Alexius

I suppose I first landed into the anime genre with Inuyasha while watching one of the cartoon channels on TV. Yeah, I know. It isn't the best of anime, but I think that is what first drew me into that style of art and storytelling, so I eventually found myself exploring other types of anime, opening a path to myself that led to Hayao Miyazaki. I pretty much loved all of the English dubbed movies he did, some more than others, probably most of all his Princess Mononoke or Howl's Moving Castle. While neither of them are perfect, they carried some very good messages that I thought were very virtuous. I suppose my love for anime sprouts from that. Now I'm dabbling in all sorts of genres, trying to find intellectually grasping entertainment, or even clever sorts of the opposite side of the spectrum. A harsh critique at heart, I'll try and find an anime I'll actually think of deserving a title of being "perfect" (I haven't found it yet, but many of my "favorite anime" listed here and in the left sidebar probably come extremely close).

I'd also like to add that I tend to utterly loathe bad grammar and spelling. If you intend to write a review which could be respected or appreciated, please take an effort to use good grammar and correct spelling (and please, most of all, capitalize your "I"s). It's one of my greatest pet peeves.

For those of you who are interested, I keep a fair bit of my thoughts of the anime I've recently watched or are watching at my blog and/or livejournal, both of which can be accessed by clicking one of the appropriate links found above these paragraphs.

NOTE: As much as I was a perpetrator of this very same thing at one time or another before, I'd rather if you say something to me first before you friend request me. I'm sure we'd get along well.

INACTIVITY: Due to school now being back in session, I will probably be less active on MAL than I was over the summer. Expect me to take longer to reply to profile comments, forum replies, and to update my list.

I hear you there, so much anime so little time. But I do have a couple more recommendations for you though.

The first one would be Saikano, it has a good amount of action as well as drama and there really isn't a serious love triangle scenario. The animation was also very good for the time and I though some of the music tracks were also quite good.

The second one would be Kannagi, a fairly new anime that's still being released. It's a comedy/supernatural anime, it's not really action focused but more character focused and so far it doesn't seem to have that serious love traingle scenario going on either. The main female character also reminds me a little of Haruhi Suzumiya.

Good luck with those Mid-terms =)

Hey man, It's been awhile, just thought I would drop by and say hi. Also there's this new anime called Chaos Head, it's one of those mess with your head type anime's. If you've seen NHK or Higurashi it's basically a blend of those. Anyway, check it out when you get the chance.

Thanks! :o

Hey, man. So I finally finished writing that R2 review. Not sure how much I like it, but there it is. :3

Why yes it did take me two months to notice your second comment, haha. Thanks for the recommendations; I've been checking out Good Witch of the West and it's pretty good.

Well, there are a lot of excellent shows out there. For starters, among the shows already on your list, I would definitely recommend Kino's Journey, Gankutsuou, Mushishi, Gunslinger Girl, and Rurouni Kenshin (esp. episodes 28-62). All of these are well-crafted, thought-provoking, and entertaining shows.

Hahaha, yeah. It's easy to forget about anti-geass in the end, which means it must not have been too disastrous of a flop. As for the dead or alive thing, I'm also content with letting everyone draw their own conclusions -- like I said, Sunrise was clever for leaving it that way, and debating the issue is pretty pointless in the end. :3

I look forward to your series of entries though. I agree that there's plenty people can derive from the series even though it could have been something else entirely. I probably don't have time to do anything that in-depth, but I do hope to have my MAL review by this weekend or something. I need go back and revise my S1 review too, heh.

I imagine that the live-geass would activate a bunch... kind of sucks. XD Then again, if people can continually be resurrected, then maybe Zerozaku really will find a way to live forever. We've got the technology! Maybe they'll freeze him.

I honestly didn't know what to think about the ending after I first saw it. I didn't feel disappointed, but I didn't feel particularly satisfied either. Reading a bunch of random theories online didn't particularly help, so I gave it a day and watched the episode two more times. I just wrote a gigantic blog entry about it here http://opinionprone.blogspot.com/2008/09/code-geass-dead-or-alive.html but the short end of it is that I think Lelouch is dead, and I'm happy with that. There a lot of things that seemed rushed and left open, but the main thing was resolved and that's good enough for me for now.

As for the OP, I dunno, I like this OP so I didn't mind, lol. There were some bits of new animation flashed inbetween the old stuff too, so that was nice.

thanks a lot!

Hey, It's been awhile since I was last on, you know how that can be when things get busy, and I guess I've also been distracted with Digaea 3 as well as tales of Vesperia =D.

Anyways, oddly enough I actually do own the Blood+ box set, I just havn't gotten around to watching it just yet.

kiriska | 09-08-08, 12:33 PM
LOL. XD I think Rolo made me laugh the most... just because I hated Calculus so much. <_<

Maybe the crazy destructive run is the final proof that Nunnally's "death" really broke Lelouch...? Buh. No clue.

I think Lelouch just wanted some kind of closure with Kallen, especially if he predicted ahead of time that she wasn't going to join him. He didn't need to say much for that, though I would like to know whether or not Kallen heard that final "sayonara." As for C.C., I'm thinking she feels bad for not sticking with Marianne and Charles even if she's disagreed with them from the beginning. I imagine she feels a little lost without them, especially as the last person with the Code. I wonder if she'll ever be able to go through with trading it to someone for her death since she can't seem to let Lelouch take it? I guess Lulu's harem is falling apart now that he's got the Knight of Zero. >_>

Sunrise sure likes flying fortresses, but yes, I agree. That thing's gonna fall. Three episodes to go!
