You are massively overreacting on a lot of levels and basically telling me you didn't get past episode 2.
Overall you really need to get over the "OMG ABC reminds me of XYZ." Just because it might be the first time you noticed it doesn't mean the character concept hasn't been reused 50 times before. At some point you have to kind of realize that lot of characters will initially start out very similar to other ones you've seen (our minds like to connect the similarities), however the characters' actions will distinguish them over the course of the series.
Sometimes that doesn't happen (most 11eyes characters stayed in their cliche roles for the entire series) but sometimes they develop beyond those cliches. Part of being a fan of anime is keeping an open mind.
Watch through episode 4 of Sora No Woto and see if you still feel the same way about Kanata.

I'm more of a late night guy on weekends. I'll probably be on after midnight CST tonight. Maybe earlier. Tomorrow I'm off, but I'll probably be sleeping pretty late then heading to work at 5-ish.

Also, if you like bows look for the White Bow in 4-2. Best bow in the game. Either that or upgrade your Longbow to a Viscous Longbow.
And losing 7k souls is nothing. I've lost over 100k before!
But the future is bright when it comes to souls. In 4-2 you can grind ~4500 souls in only a minute or so, and in 4-3 you can get ~20k in 4-5 minutes.

You should be fine with a spear if that's the way you want to go. You really only need one main melee weapon. I generally favor longswords, because they can be a bit more versatile than spears, but you can make either work.
I'd head to 3-1 next. It can be a bit daunting, and 5-1 may actually be an easier level, but once you figure out a good strategy to overcome the crazy witch bitches you should be fine. About 2/3rds of the way through 3-1 you'll find a free set of plate armor (Knight's starting armor) which will save you quite a bit of money. I'd use that if you're going to be heavy on melee. It's strong but not too heavy, so you keep a good bit of your mobility.
I'd probably beat 3-1, then get through 3-2 just enough to get the Gloom Armor. The Gloom Armor is basically Plate Armor, but it looks way cooler, and has higher bleed, poison, and plague resistance. The poison and plague resistance is excellent for beating world 5. However, the gauntlets and leggings have slightly less physical damage resistance. After that I'd head to 5-1, then to 4-1, then back to 3-2, then beat 3-3 (easiest third level boss by far, though you'll probably want a friend to help you out - and you'll probably need a friend for the 3-2 boss as well). Then to 5-2, then back to 4-2, then to 2-2 (arguably the hardest boss overall!) then 2-3 (easy once you figure out the trick), then to 5-3 (kinda hard, but easy if you parry a lot) and take his awesome shield, then head to 4-3, then 1-3, then 1-4, then beat the boss, then head do New Game+, then head right back into 1-1.
Rinse, repeat.
Talking about this only makes me realize how much I love this game. <3
