I am legion. I am a single father and practicing occultist. That means I am evil by Western societies definition. I am also a drilling Naval reservist for the United States. This means that I put on a uniform once a month and go to Japan for 2-3 weeks a year. I've been a computer professional (Programming, Process Analysis and both Software & Hardware QA) until recently. I am bored with computers and want them to become fun again, so I am using my GI Bill to learn Japanese with the plan of transferring to UofO in order to pursue a degree in Japanese Studies.
My anime list reflects the children's choices as well. The ratings reflects my opinion and not the children's, so if you see a low rated anime that has been watched again and again, you know what has happened.
Generally speaking, I like Slice of Life, Vampires/Demons, Yuri/"Shojo-Ai," Gender-Bender and Mythology (whether past or future).
A little still she strove, and much repented, and whispering, "I will ne'er consent" - consented. - Lord Byron
I also enjoy sitting in crowded places with my children and discussing trans-dimensional lesbian schoolgirls (e.g. Blue Drop), yuri twincest (Candy Boy) or the importance of skintight outfits designed to frame the exposed buttocks for aerodynamics (Sky Girls).
The LibraryThing page (under Website) includes links to my other presences on the web.
I've decided that I love Erika Vermillion and Nanami "Kaichou" Shinonome. Since they have the same seiyū I'm not being fickle am I?
"To aim at homogeneity is to revert to nullity." - Crowley
Out of patience with them all. But I like to laugh. And I cannot laugh alone. -- Cioran
Skill without imagination is craftsmanship and gives us many useful objects such as wickerwork picnic baskets. Imagination without skill gives us modern art. - Tom Stoppard
The genuine coherence of our ideas does not come from the reasoning that ties them together, but from the spiritual impulse that gives rise to them. - Nicolás Gómez Dávila
There is only one pleasure greater than that of being appreciated by intelligent people, and that is the pleasure of not being understood by blunder-heads, who are only capable of expressing in a kind of jargon what serves them in the place of thought. - Georges Sorel
My IQ is 146 - Free-IQTest.net - Online IQ Test
On the other hand I clicked on all those questions trying to give me "free" stuff (I declined them). so I question this.

Eeesh. I don't see you as the forcing type.
Rocky Horror, eh? lol Cool. ^_^ So, is your religion something that is done alone or can you go to a church with other people? I think the concept of primordial tradition is interesting. You probably know more than I do about Japanese culture now, but that isn't hard since most of what I know is through personal experience. Personal experience can be rather limited/limiting.
Lucky you! Do you ever see yourself actually visiting those places? I've traveled more than the average person, but it's always alone. I only have two close friends. So, my tribe is small.
I like that quote.
I'm an INFJ.
What scifi/fantasy series did you enjoy reading the most? I've only started reading philosophy in the last couple of years. What do your recommend? I will check out the Nora May book.

Hmmm... Yeah, I can see why having four might seem like too many to women. On the other hand, your children are mostly older. I'd think that would be a plus.
Technically, I agree. Nazism isn't the same as white nationalism. Yet, there's definitely overlap within the communities themselves (from my understanding) for the purpose of sheer numbers. They're smart enough to realize that united they stand, and divided they fall. White people as a homogenous group is one of the small prices paid for creating the system of white supremacy in America. The way it's setup unifies people on the basis of being caucasoids. It's meant to be seen as one entity, thus all the people within it as well. I'm not saying it's correct, but that's how it is. In fact, I think it's dangerous because it gives white people a false sense of security. The greatest atrocity of all time was committed by europeans against other europeans.
The subject is interesting. It's good to know and understand as much as possible. Do you align yourself with a white supremacist philosophy? What other subjects are you knowledgeable on?
Personally, I'm not into tribalism. I understand how it helped people survive in the past, and how it's an effective method in the present for whatever ethnicity in power to gain access to resources. Nonetheless, assholes are everywhere. Like you, I think most people aren't worth my time. That includes the majority of those that make up my race/ethnicity, class, gender, sexuality, religion, and interests.
I guessed right. You certainly seem like an INTJ.
AHAHAHA. Simply leering would gross people out? Or something more explicit?
Oh, that's really cool. Have you had anything published yet? Ugh. Diseases. Yeah, I understand. I live close to a party university, and it was ranked in the top 5 for stds in all of America. I always tell my friends to use protection, because they think being lesbian makes them immune. It's not true at all. Not even close.
What are your favorite books? What subjects do you like to read about the most?

Ah. How old are your other children? Have you found it difficult to raise children on your own? I'd ask why you're doing it alone, but that seems invasive.
I see.
I wish that were true in the places I've lived so far. I see strangers making friends in the workplace all the time. People think I'm weird for not wanting to share my personal life, and go to parties with them. I agree that people that act like best friends right from the get go aren't worthy of trust.
Gay nazis. lol I wonder how they deal with prejudice in such a group. White nationalists hate gays even if they're white. Then again one of the prominent supporters of white nationalism grew up in Japan and believes asians are superior. Lots of weird stuff going on there. The goth scene being intertwined with serious racism is more prominent in Europe than America. Even so, I've noticed it's still hard for dark skinned minority alternative people that I've personally known in the states. Then again, I've primarily lived in the south (TX, AZ). I haven't experienced any problems myself, but I'm only a once in a blue moon visitor to that world.
Have you ever taken the mbti test? You strike me as an NT.
Fetishists are vapid. Oh, boy. I'm sure this is the first time I've ever heard that. XD I went to a local fetish ball a couple years ago, which seemed to attract the goth crowd. It wasn't what I expected at all. I haven't really had any dealings with fetish people, so I can't comment on what they're like. Do you often see fetishists where you live?
Ahaha. Touche.
Do you write sci-fi and fantasy? Wild stuff always goes down at any kind of nerd convention, even random hookups. I imagine it's the one or few times a year many people can let their hair down in like company. How do you let loose?

Do you have more than 3 children? Kids pick up languages quickly, and nothing is better than immersion anyway. I'm sure they will be fine if they don't learn much before you move.
lol So, what do you consider being able to back up arrogance? What should the minimum requirement be?
Seattle freeze is the oh-so-ever polite, but distant behavior many of the long term residents seem to exhibit. Like maybe they would hold a door open for you to walk through if they see you and make small talk on a daily basis, but they don't ever invite you to hang out with them.
Ah, I see. Yes, it's not very common to see asians in certain communities. I've been to goth clubs before, but I wouldn't say I'm really a goth since I'm not a big music buff. Also, depending on where you live there can be some pretty racist people in the alternative community, and that might make minorities stay away too. Have you ever been to a Torture Garden party?
Thank you. ^_^ I don't really keep up with Japanese holidays though. How was the convention?

When it was over, when the blood had dried and the fires had died down, then we found we were the same as we had always been - small and terrified human beings, with only the light of the Emperor to see by in this dark galaxy of sin.

Sounds like a good reason to me. I hope it works out for you. That you get whatever it is you want out of it. How many of your kids want to go so far? Are they learning Japanese too?
By modest and unassuming, are you saying that Seattle Goths are assholes? lol I've found quite a few counterculture groups to be exclusionary, including anime and goth. Tribal mentality exists within most people in society. It's how we used to survive.
Is Seattle freeze true? Were you able to make any friends while living there? Does Portland have alot of racism? Does Seattle? I'm asking because I'm interested in visiting.

MicroRNA | 03-27-10, 9:06 AM
Ah, that makes sense then. That's a huge change. Will you be taking your kids? Why do you want to move there?
You sound like a renaissance man. How long have you lived in Portland? What do you think of Seattle?

Oh, wow. What are you going to use it for? I don't think there are many opportunities out there to utilize such a degree in the states aside from teaching and interpreting. I'm sure there are more, but the bulk of jobs would probably fall into those categories. You have some balls. That's admirable.
Do you participate in any other Japanese related hobbies aside from manga and anime? Do you go to anime conventions?

lol Just a little bit.
Hey, that's great for your friend. I bet he's glad to be back. My brother is actually about to be shipped out there in less than a month. 15 credits is a decent course load. What degree are you pursuing?
I'm good. I was busy helping my family, but now I'm back home. I've been getting into alot of old school goth music. I especially like dead can dance.
