Maoyuu disappoints me for one simple reason: it is pretentious by nature/conception.
It was born in a forum, with the intention of being a fantasy story, smarter, better than others, but tries to do so without abandoning the conventions of the genre.

Where it is compared to Spice and Wolf is the romance between the protagonists.
Unfortunately it very disappointing. Mao and the Hero is "married" in the first episode, and for what? This does not affect anything in their relationship, which is nonexistent. The Mao is a demon in name only, in practice she behaves like any shy human little girl. The Hero is another silly anime character.
In Spice and Wolf, Horo and Lawrence get to will know each other gradually, learning to admire each other, respect their flaws and cover the faults of the other. The climax of the second season is a story about the confidence that Lawrence has in Horo's affection for him.
There is a clear game of seduction, which is nonexistent in Maoyuu.
Maoyuu is good? Without doubt, it is trying to do a little different. But it is undeniable that it lacks quality in every way to be able to put in the level of Jintai and Spice and Wolf.

Unfortunately, after watching the second episode, my impressions of the series are not good. The premise is interesting, the content is good, but the series is unable to be as smart as intended.
The characters are forced, and his ideas have flaws logic and glaring contradictions.

The characters can read quotes from encyclopedias ad nauseam, lnowledge is different from intelligence.
And wisdom is simple, not complicated sentences.
Anyway, is not a Spice and Wolf, much less Jintai as we expected.
About Tutu, I like it much more than Madoka.
Simple beatiful, i cried... Unfortunately, it is a series of quality that we no longer see. And innocent and pure, something that should be encouraged and cultivated.
