Basically I give a respectable score for most animes (6-10 range). So anything with a 6 passes my expectation (and yes, my expectation is pretty low, since I watch for enjoyment) Anything which falls beyond this range could be considered either seriously weak anime or I do not appreciate it.
Also, I've begun dropping animes should I feel it pointless to continue watching, instead of my previous mindset of watching through it. With my limited time for now, I find it hard to watch through some shit shows as I did previously.
For hentais, I have a separate tool for measuring them. 5 is the bare minimum and anything below it is either too hardcore for me to stomach or too weak to even give a boner. Or just it's weak.
Slice of life is my favourite genre. Share any good shows which has adequate story and character development with me.

Yeah, Diana is an pretty amazing character. I wish Fencer of Minerva/Minerva no Kenshi would get a re-make with today's animation though and maybe expand the story a bit.

Goes to show how you didn't really consider my recommendation , Toshokan Sensou and Hatsukoi Limited are 12 episodes. If you want to nitpick and say that both of them are romance , then Haibane Renmei is only 13 episodes so don't tell me one more episode will do any harm .
But I will give you a benefit of doubt :
Kure nai , Kurozuka , Aoi Bungaku , Eden Of The East and Moyashimon .

Simple romance?
Ocean Waves is the best .
Cross Game , one of the best romance anime in disguise. It is actually like Toradora but better.
Hatsukoi Limited is sort of haremish in a love polygon kind of way but it was fun and the relationships are setted early during the series.
KimiKiss Pure Rouge is like Hatsukoi Limited , love polygon with unpredictable pairing .
Nodame Cantabile is romance+music.
Toshokan Sensou even though has ridiculous plot has great romance as well.
Mizuiro Jidai is great, if you can find it.
