Yōko Kamio (神尾 神尾 , Kamio Yōko), born June 29, 1966) is a popular Japanese manga artist and writer. She is most famous for Boys Over Flowers (花より男子 ,Hana yori dango), for which she received the Shogakukan Manga Award in 1996. Her work has been translated and distributed in Asia, Europe, and North America.

I really like both Hana Yori Dango and Cat Street, and plan on reading the rest of her work eventually. She has a talent when constructing characters, all her characters have a lot of personality, even the minor ones. But most importantly, I'm not a fan of school romances, yet I love Kamio's works. Her art is really rough, but improves drastically (in HYD). She also deserves more recognition in the west. I really wish Cat Street would get licensed here, but HYD doesn't seem to have the recognition/sales to really push Viz to do so.

There are so many versions of drama based on manga HYD. It seems, this is a real great story^^ Taiwan, Japan, Korea and now China make filming on it

Although her style could be criticised as out-dated by today's standards, she is still a genius and created one of the most awesome shoujo manga's I've ever read.
