@Godofcheese: No one knows, but i think the reason may be that it's many years till all the movies (of course the manga as well) will be finished, so they preferred younger actors over the original ones. After all, the TV series aired in 1997, i am not sure if for example Toshiyuki Morikawa would still be suitable for the young Griffith, even though he is an awesome seiyuu. Voices change with the years. And it's not only about the voices, signing contracts for long-term projects is naturally more reasonable with younger actors. Plus, rookies are cheaper than the super popular seiyuu who did the old Berserk. These are the only reasons i can think of.
