A shame that Nana Mizuki's are going the other way, the new single sounded good.
Agreed, I think it sounds really good and I had thought Nana sama was immune to things like her song being in front of a poorly received anime. Instead I think her fanbase must simply be eroding which is very sad.

Ahh I see my apologizes then I thought the Director was in charge of deciding whether or not the anime received a movie. Really that's strange weren't people talking about Walkure's concert in last weeks post? If I can the post it I'll link you to it so you can give it a look.
No, just like your post in the manga sales saying you hope DEEN announces a new season, the animation studio and director do NOT decide whether new seasons are made. It is the production committee's heavy hitters who decide. The director and animation studio can certainly opt out from making the sequel if they are overbooked and it does happen sometimes that the studio and/or staff changes in a sequel or a movie but for consistency, artistic, business and personal reasons most studios and staff would gladly take on a sequel unless there were unusual circumstances.

As for the concerts, Walkure had a mini live (ticket in the OP/ED CD) but with just 3 songs to their name it was hardly something I'd compare to Macross F! The bigger concert is happening in September with multiple dates/times. That one might be fairer to compare. I'd still be interested in knowing what people were comparing however.

I always thought it depended on the studio whether a particular anime receives a sequel or not but thanks for clearing that out now whether Delta gets a movie series or not will depend on everything you mentioned before.

Ah I was talking about that concert, even if the mini concert had only 3 songs was it successful? I ask because some people are saying it was and others are saying it was a failure so I'm curious to know as well.

You think the Big Concert that will be held in September will be as successful as F was?

Well, first of all the director doesn't decide that. If Bandai Visual and Big West decide to make a movie they will almost certainly invite the director to work on it and I'm sure the answer would be yes.

I'm not sure how the Macross F concert could have sold better considering that the Walkure concert hasn't happened yet but perhaps the venue is smaller this time around, I haven't checked.

I think the sales are enough to consider it but sadly my vote doesn't count.

So in your opinion are the concerts, CD's, PS vita games and the rest you mention selling well enough for the Director to even consider working on movies??

I keep hearing Macross F concert sold better but the way I see it Walkure did well especially because there all rookies and how long was the gap between F and the movies btw??

Between CDs, plastic model kids, PS Vita game, concerts, I think the Bluray/DVD sales probably matter less for Macross as a franchise than many others. Hopefully it is all enough for movies and another season though it may be years before that happens as the last TV series was in 2008.

I'm hoping this is enough for the anime to receive a couple of movies and maybe even an Ova. If Macross F could get one so should Delta ^^

Mizuki-sama's sales continue to slide... which has been a talking point in the Japanese sales community for awhile now.
