Comic Natalie announced that the manga Bungou Stray Dogs will receive an anime adaptation in 2016. The anime's official site also revealed that Takuya Igarashi (Darker than Black: Kuro no Keiyakusha) will direct the work, while Yoji Enokido (Top wo Nerae 2! Diebuster) will be in charge of the screenplay. Animation production will be done by studio Bones.

Bungou Stray Dogs is a manga series written by Kafka Asagiri and illustrated by Harukawa35. It has been serialized in Young Ace since 2012, and there are currently seven volumes in print, with the eighth to be published on September 4. The seventh manga volume has sold a cumulative 97,199 copies as of its third week on Oricon's weekly rankings.

Synopsis
Nakajima Atsushi was kicked out of his orphanage, and now he has no place to go and no food. While he is standing by a river, on the brink of starvation, he rescues a man whimsically attempting suicide. That man is Dazai Osamu, and he and his partner Kunikida are members of a very special detective agency. They have supernatural powers and deal with cases that are too dangerous for the police or the military. They're tracking down a tiger that has appeared in the area recently, around the time Atsushi came to the area. The tiger seems to have a connection to Atsushi, and by the time the case is solved, it is clear that Atsushi's future will involve much more of Dazai and the rest of the detectives! Blatant fujoshi bait as far as character designs are concerned, but it sounds pretty interesting and it's being done by Bones. Will most likely watch.

Much of the anime produced by bones comes across that way, and then it's actually brilliant. Blast of Tempest was awesome even though it looked like fujoshi bait.

Now that season 2 is over what did you think?

Why are they named exactly as famous Japanese people, what kinda fuckers is that, where is the creativity.

I know this is old, but it's too hilarious still.

The decision to name them after famous writers (NOT only Japanese) was brilliant, because their character traits and powers also are connected to the lives of their namesakes.

Bungo is actually quite a intelligent show, especially towards season 2. Hope you have it a shot.

What a great news!
I've been reading the manga and I like it very much. Never knew before that it's going to have an anime adaption. Bless you, creators~

The manga is literally the second coming of Kekkai Sensen; interesting characters, cool fights, just don't expect much plot or good writing. Think those who like Kekkai Sensen will like this series too. TBH I am not sure why they didn't ask Rie Matsumoto to direct this cause it looks like the perfect kind of series for her.

Well since this isn't a mecha I'll be more optimistic about it. This looks to be more in their comfort zone.

Artwork looks appealing.

Been reading the manga for quite some time and honestly it's nothing special. It's basically a huge lump of shounen cliches with authors' names tacked on, which retains very little of their unique traits albeit just some little superficials here and there. On the other hand, the artwork is beautiful and very pleasing to look at. And while the mysteries occured in the series are nothing to write home about, the characters' interactions while solving them are more than enough to make up for it. Overall not bad, but not very good either. Just enough to make for a decent time waster.

Also, kudos for BONES for adapting this kind of stuff. They're one of reasons for anime's diversity nowadays.

hmmm......haven't read it myself yet...
I'll take your rating to it as an advice before watching

Sounds very interesting and promising!

Ahhhhh, yes. No baddly written female characters with oblivious MC, no jiggling boobs, no harem. Bring it oooon.

Interesting plot and chara design, I will watch it for sure.

No, it's pure hypocritical bias.
They bash ecchi and the like while these types of series are basically the same but for women and receive less hate.

Hmm. Really? Did Kuroko no Basuke, Haikyuu!!, Barakamon and Durarara!! have ecchi for women in them? I don't recall seeing ecchi scenes for girls in those. If anything, they had some ecchi for guys.

"Looks like your average fujoshi bait show"
that's great, because those always turn out to be the best shows.

i've heard of this series before and yeah, i'll probably be watching it.

OHEY!!! THEY DID BOUEIBU TOO! ^O^

Anyway, I don't care if it's for fujos or for ecchi lovers, i watch both anyway xD Can we all just enjoy the things we're meant to enjoy? I mean no one's forcing you to watch it if you deem it as something you don't enjoy! It's okay! It's your opinion man! Coming back to watch it after the show ended with high reviews is completely fine too! Freedom and all that jazz.

That aside though... this looks pretty interesting! I'll be looking forward to it! Sadly for us fujos (me at least) it won't be enough to deem it as fujobait unless there's outright body contact and kissing -cries- You homophobes (or just non-interested parties in general) should just be happy that it will never turn out like that!

I'M TELLIN' YOU, EVEN IF I WANT THIS TO BE FUJOSHI BAIT IT WOULDN'T
EVEN IF I BEGGED
T_____T

Their 4 most recent works are trash tier cartoons. Truly a studio deserving of praise :^)
