I guess 2014 is an awesome year for anime.
Too many OTP and OP shows this year especially the ones currently airing this season and the ones airing this Fall. Oh boy. :D

original production

Jul 15, 2014 12:00 AM by ChoiDalDal

Is Zankyou no terror an original production or it's after a manga or novel?

Jul 14, 2014 3:25 PM by Saturjay

Barakamon & Gekkan really surprised me, largely enjoying them. It's odd, the ones I least expected to deliver, actually delivered. Whereas the ones I was hyped for fell short, maybe I bought into the hype too much for certain shows perhaps.

Zankyou no Terror is what I was hoping for it to be though, really entertaining first episode, hope it goes good places.

My Watch list so far
Ao Haru Ride for the best dramaromance, Tokyo Ghoul for the best gorepsychological, Aldnoah.Zero for the best insert song and sound effect, Hanayatama for heartwarmingcomedy and maybe Akame ga Kill for the comedy ^^

I'm watching 9 shows so far, the most in any season so far for me xD
I'm really enjoying most of them mostly Glasslip, Ao haru Ride and Hanamayata. Zankyou no Terror looks really really promising and I'm hoping for it to be one of the best in the season. Imo Space Dandy 2 doesn't add anything new. I'm not sold on Tokyo Esp either, I found it boring.

Okay, after sampling each premiere of the summer season, i'm fairly confident that this one has slightly better potential than spring did, which has fallen short on lots of places

Both Aldnoah Zero and Barakamon have become my top contender of the season. I'm not really into mecha, but Aldnoah Zero had very gripping and intense premiere, aside from superb visual and soundtrack, that immediately bought me into it. Barakamon, on the other hand, was very simple and charming without being overly cutesy. I've been a sucker for this type of iyashikei that doesn't just sell comfortable feelings, but also slip in some meaningful message in it.

Space Dandy 2 was the most bizarre and hilarious premiere of the season. After the superb first cour, there's this feeling that this cour will even surpass it.

The premiere of Kuroshitsuji Book of Circus was rather underwhelming. The first half had the same cranky humor and bishie spark that the first episode of previous season had always done. Only tiny bit of second half that actually indicates what's this arc actually about.

Glasslip. Ergh, as much as i found the visuals and animations very lovely. The characters and plot were so bland that the first two eps almost made me fall asleep. Dropped.

Both Tokyo ESP and Zankyou no Terror were pretty cool, despite sharing similar expositional and pacing problem. The former throws the audience right into the middle of things without much explanations, while the latter just rush things out without telling the audience wth actually going on and why.

Ao Haru Ride, well, it's pretty faithful with manga so i didn't take any issue with it. Granted, i didn't find it surprising that a lot of people dislike the main characters, because the manga started a little too slow and things only gets better very late on the story.

Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun gave me good, decent laugh without being pretentious or offensive so i'll keep sticking with it.

My God, Tokyo Ghoul easily had the best executions of the season despite being adapted from a manga with numbingly slow, angst-heavy beginning (thanks to its Oscar-winning director). The first two episodes were so gripping and mindblowing that i can't wait to see what happens next. Any else, the writing, visuals, and soundtrack are all top notch. Really can't believe that this is being made by Pierrot, studio infamous for long-running but pedestrian-looking show

Both Rail Wars and Majimoji Rurumo are completely out. The former had inconsistent animation and standard LN troubles, including stupid fanservice jokes. While the latter seems just a pedestrian ecchi comedy that doesn't try to be anything else. Didn't help that it had a irritating male lead that's just painful to look at.

Not bother touching any LN adaptations. Rokujouma, the Momo kyun, Jinsei, and Blade Dance. Because, based on synopsis and trailers, i already know that they're going to offer the same ol' crass stuff that will repulse me off completely.

Akame ga Kill had rather strange sensibilities, including out-of-place mix between goofiness and seriousness. But it's so over the top that actually becomes comical so i'll keep sticking with it.

SAO II Had pretty entertaining premiere. Will keep sticking with it to know what kind of stupidity they're going to pull this time around.

This summer I'll be watching:

Akame Ga Kill!
Tokyo Ghoul
Tokyo ESP
Aldnoah.Zero
Zankyou No Terror
Free!: Eternal Summer
Glasslip
Black Butler: Book of Circus

Currently only Zankyou, ESP and Black Butler have not aired yet. Aside from Glasslip and Aldnoah.Zero, it's been a pretty good start for the summer! ^^
