I hope they don't fuck it up like the Dragon ball z movie I still want to destroy all the dvds in existence

I feel like I'm the only one who's excited about this. Yes, I know about the other previous horrible adaptations. But until I actually see the movie, I will remain optimistic about it. Who knows?.... If it is good, just imagine how many non-anime fans it could create! If so, more people will watch the anime or read the manga. Basically, anime/manga will gain popularity. Then possibly, anime/manga will become popular enough that more guys like FUNimation and Bandai will pop up and more anime and manga will be in print. AND MAYBE. MAYBE. THE RIDICULOUS PRICES WILL GO DOWN ON SOME OF THE SHOWS THAT ARE BEING SOLD.*cough* Aniplex *cough*

They wanted to do away with all the shinigami characters and they wanted Light to NOT be evil... I can't even believe that! Light Yagami NOT evil? He is the most evil villain character EVER. How can you take that away from him? *facepalm*

I flipped my fucking desk.

Seriously! Fucking Hollywood. Just leave anime/manga alone. >:[

I absolutely hate live-action adaptations, and I initially despised Zack Efron since I could never take him seriously as an actor after doing a string of Family channel straight-to-TV movies.

However, I can totally respect the fact that he's a serious Death Note fan. Something about celebrity quasi-Otakus gets me really excited, and I might check it out as someone who loved Death Note too.

The death note movie isn't a bad idea. Depending on the execution, it could prove to be a hit. But honestly, they always take a big risk when they import these Japanese series on to the big screen.

Unlike 99% of the live-action movies, I have high expectations on this one. I mean, besides the Shinigamis, Death Note doesn't need lots of special effects (which usually ruin those movies like "Dragon Ball" Evolution(aaargh)).
Altough the japanese live-action was pretty lame...

Live action Death Note?
Can't say it will thrive at all.
They should do a live action Mirai Nikki instead.
Edit: ZAC EFRON? DONE.
Edit2: Justin Beiber as Yukiteru would make me lol hard

It really p***** me of that they want to change everything about what made the Anime so great. It's quite obnious that the people running the studio have absolutely no idea what Death Note is about. All I have to say is you can make whatever movie you want. Just don't call it Death Note.

You say that, but yet you didn't mention that Shane Black is against what the executives wanted and you didn't post the more recent article with him explaining what changes he doesn't want in the movie.

Just read this article over at Anime News Network and just know that they are going to totally destroy this movie if they ever decide to do it. To quote from the article it says: "... the project was in jeopardy because the studio initially wanted to lose "the demon [Ryuk]. [They] don't want the kid to be evil…."
