Saint Seiya Omega will be completing its 2-year broadcasting run this Spring, when it will be replaced by the TV adaptation of manga Notari Matsutaro.

Saint Seiya Omega will complete with the Omega Awakening arc at 97 episodes. Although a number of movies and OVAs were released between, this series broadcast in 2012 as the first Saint Seiya TV anime since the original anime which aired 23 years prior.

Notari Matsutaro began serialization in Big Comic magazine 41 years ago in August 1973 and completed in March 1998. The sumo manga was created by mangaka Testuya Chiba, who is most known for his series Ashita no Joe. The manga previously received a 10-episode OVA series adaptation with the same title in November 1990.

The new TV adaptation will be titled Abarenbou Kishi!! Matsutarou (Roughneck Sumo Wrestler!! Matsutarou) and will premiere on April 5th.

Synopsis
The story follows Matsutarou Sakaguchi, a giant roughneck man with strength far beyond ordinary people. He never uttered words like "work hard," "strive," and "dream" like the typical shounen manga protagonist. However, he is stronger than anyone and peerless in sumo wrestling. His greatest weakness is his own carefree personality. He grows into a full-fledged sumo wrestler. (Source: ANN)

Considering that it's from the creator of Ashita no Joe, this might end up great. Of course, Ashita no Joe had Dezaki, but I won't lose hope! This will be a great replacement for me once Kill la Kill ends.

Might as well drop it now before they make him beat the champion in the first season, get a job, lose some weight and become handsome.

I'm not a fan of sumo but I will keep an open mind and as for seiya thank god it's ending it was such a disappointment.

More sports anime? Hell yeah.

Oooh, sumo wrestling? Interesting, I'll definitely watch.

This looks awesome. Sports (and not one of the usual ones either) and seinen = I wanna watch.

I hope it gets subs though.

Sumo wrestling anime, very original, but one issue, I doubt most kids in Japan today have even heard much less watched the original OVA series or read the manga (I could be wrong), both are pretty dated, I think this is more suited for a 11-2 AM slot where there's a viewing fanbase unless this has a recap episode or a remake (which it seems to be more of a remake).

I won't give it a shot this Spring but I will have it on the lookout.

Saint Seiya Omega has been the "so bad, it's good" long runner for me in the past 2 years.
It's still a fun shonen action show though, in spite of having to roll with all the stupidity and nonsensical plot ever since.

I'm glad that once Omega over, theres' other long runner candidate to replace it and by Ashita no Joe's mangaka to boot, which means more grounded, down to earth approach to sport genre (since awful lot of sport anime nowadays make their characters look like superhuman and such) and high emphasize on morals, something that i'll definitely be enjoying

Even though I hate the sports genre in general and I'm most likely not going to watch this anime but there's something that I've noticed which makes me really happy. It's the attention that some older manga series are getting in 2014! so far they've announced adaptation for Ping Pong, Parasyte, This series and even an oldie like sailor moon.. this is absolutely fantastic! I do love modern anime but unfortunately some great old manga started and finished without getting the attention they deserve.. and hearing about all these adaptations gives me great hope considering some other old manga that might just get a chance in the future..

Now this is great. Ashita no Joe is almost completely subbed and Ashita no Joe 2 just recently got finished being subbed and now we get THIS. 2014 is a great year for anime fans.
I will surely watch Notari Matsutaro.

About Seint Seiya Omega, it looks really fun but I still have a lot to catch up on with that franchise. At least I'll be able to marathon it in the future.

you know the original franchise of saint seiya is better then omega.
but still i'm kinda bumbed that there gonna end it. another long running anime i can't follow anymore.
and the anime there gonna replace it with doesn't sound so appealing to me
