During the fan event KSL Live 2013 held today, it was announced that visual novel "Little Busters! Ecstasy", also known as "Little Busters! - EX", will get an anime adaptation. The game is an adult and expanded version of the visual novel "Little Busters" and was released in July 2008 for Windows. It was later ported to PlayStation2, PlayStation Portable, PlayStation Vita, and PlayStation 3. The original "Little Busters" was adapted in anime in two 2-cour seasons: "Little Busters!" was aired from October 2012 to March 2013 and its sequel "Little Busters! Refrain" will start airing October 2013. The main additions in "Little Busters! Ecstasy" are three heroine routes involving the characters Futaki Kanata, Sasasegawa Sasami, and Tokido Saya. It is not yet known in what format the anime adaptation will take.

The official anime website is already up and running. The working title of the anime is "Little Busters! EX".

Are these OVA be like '' What if '' route like Clannad OVA with Kyou and Tomoyo or not?

No, they're routes that occur before Refrain, with the exception of Sasami and the last part of Kanata, which take place after it.

Actually, Saya's route is a what-if.

It's like what if

And yes, Sasami's route and the last 1/4 of Kanata's route take place after Refrain.

So this is confirmed 13 episodes?

No. But the way the episodes will be supports this assumption.

I think he's referring to the EX season. Not Refrain season.

But I guess that's no different.

if refrain is 13 episodes, then i don't see how EX would be more than that...they're probably just hyping up Saya (this is me hoping refrain is not 13 eps)

I know no one wants 13 episodes only for Refrain season but I do really think 26 episodes for Refrain season is too much.

Let's see, on my logic here is - If Refrain season contains 13 episodes, that would be also the same for EX season. Same goes for if Refrain season is 26 episodes.

I don't want 13 episodes of EX season so I may want to hope that Refrain season is 26 episodes but I guess that's a wishful thinking as of now. But the technical reason why EX season could be longer than Refrain season is because EX routes combine are much longer than Kurugaya's, Rin's and Refrain combine.

I don't see how Refrain can be 13 episodes unless JC. Staff REALLY want to squeeze everything...

But there was Rita's tweet about Refrain season consists of 26 episodes but she deleted it afterwards.

Well, either that tweet is true but accidentally revealed it to the fans or it's just a prank.

NOOOOO WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!

But I wonder why are we keep getting these announcements related to EX anime. Are we seriously getting the EX anime sooner than what we expected?

If Refrain is 1 cour, then I'd expect EX by Spring.

My assumption would be October next year. Well, just like what they did when they did start airing the first season and Refrain season.

Weill I HIGHLY doubt it cos it'll affect their sales since they disrupt the chronological order of how the thing is. EX may be a side part where they add in Sasami, Kanata and Saya's route but it doesn't go hand in hand with Refrain. You should know this if you have read the VN already.

Don't worry. I already played the EX routes and I'm very aware that it'll affect the chronological order since Kanata's and Sasami's are continuations of Refrain.

On the recording on the first episode I think it's more of them introducing Saya to the audience rather than her arc. Since she's a rather important character in EX, the studio might want to introduce her first as she might appear here and there when they show Sasami and Kanata's route before moving on to her route itself.

That might be the possibility. But it's either that or they're just preparing the first episode for Saya's arc.

Well, probably so. I guess we just need to wait and see. Anyone have a ETA as to when will it air?

EX should be more than 13 unless JC Staff decides to cram up Sasami and Kanata's route.

Yeah. If they'll still stick to 3-episode per heroine arc(Except Saya's), that'll be the worst case scenario that we'll get 12-13 episodes/1 cour. 6(Kanata's and Sasami's) + Remaining episodes for Saya's arc. To be honest, I don't want that to happen because that'll be equivalent to butchering my favorite routes(Sasami's route and possibly Saya's route).

Nobody wants that. I mean who wants to watch an anime where everything is crammed up? I'd rather stick reading the VN again -_- Hence I'm PRAYING JC Staff don't screw this by butchering everyone's route.

But then, that will depend how well the sale of BDs for Refrain is. Gotta keep fingers crossed that it'll be good enough >.>

Actually, read zakkun89's post: http://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=663905&show=40#msg25542471

Harumi said in the talk show that they've finished doing the voice recording of episode 1 for EX(dunno if this mean Saya's arc will be the first in EX) so how long can we expect EX to come out ?

He hasn't replied to my post yet but I wonder what does that mean.

I was under the impression that they will wait for the BD sales of Refrain season and they will rely on the sales in question for the budget of the incoming EX season. But from what I understand of what he said, I think EX season will air while Refrain season is airing.

Since she's a rather important character in EX, the studio might want to introduce her first as she might appear here and there when they show Sasami and Kanata's route before moving on to her route itself. It'll be surprising if she suddenly just came out like that in her route. Like "BAM!" Saya appears... It'll totally throw people off. She needs to be integrated in slowly so the audience can digest it(don't forget their main purpose is to target those non-VN readers to boost the sale of the BDs AS WELL AS to boost the sale for the VN itself) so it makes no sense to rush things out.

Who knows ? The Japanese fans also reached the same conclusion because of what she said.

So what's this? Are they blatantly implying that they'll go for omnibus format? But then again, like what I said on the EX VN thread, I guess that's for the 1st episode of Saya's arc and not the 1st episode of EX season itself.
