Transvestite TV Anime 'The Midnight★Animals' by Gonzo to Start Airing in August

The original CG anime series "The Midnight★Animals" started airing via the online and cable TV channel "Hikari TV" on August 3rd. The anime is 15 minutes per episode and revolves around cross-dressing animal characters who every night frequent the bars in Savannah Nichoume (a reference to Shinjuku Nichoume, which is well-known for its transvestite bars). The voice actors are drawn from transvestite TV celebrities like Hoshikuzu Scat and KABA.chan. Gonzo is responsible for making the anime.

This is an odd concept for an anime. Though I'm wondering if they are actually talking about 'Transvestites' which are cross dressers that usually see the act in a purely sexual manner rather than 'Transsexuals' who are people that are literally born in the wrong body or have a form of 'gender dysphoria'. To refer to the latter as the former would sort of be disrespectful.

Also if it is indeed the former I can't see this anime being about serious issues, it would most likely come off as some sort of over the top comedy or something.

Pretty disappointed in the fact it's animals and not delicious cute boys along with the CG. Guess Gonzo likes them animals.

But, whatever. It made go "What the...", so I'm gonna watch it. I gotta see how they handle this. It's not everyday you see an actual transvestite anime.

Well, this thread seems to have a bit more transphobia than anything else, but yeah I know what you mean.
I'm not too hopeful, but still I wanna look on the bright side of things.
It at least has the possibility to be good.

Depending on how this is handled, it may be a very pleasant watch.
I have a little hope considering they picked actual transvestites to play the parts, but I'll have to wait til I see it.
