Hanasaku Iroha Triggers Financial Increase for Local Railroad Line

According to the Hokuriku Chuunichi Newspaper (April 21st), the anime Hanasaku Iroha has triggered a financial increase for the Noto Railroad Line, a local line in Ishikawa Prefecture (northern central Japan). Daisan Sector Tetsudou, the railroad company responsible, claims that they will experience an increase in annual tourist income that has not occured since the railroad line was shortened in 2005. Nishigishi Station, the model of Yunosagi Station from the anime, has become the center of attraction for Hanasaku Iroha fans. Daisan Sector has been taking measures to reproduce the atmosphere of the station in the anime. They have also created train cars with Hanasaku Iroha themes, in which tourists may hear announcements done by the voice actresses in the anime.

Mamiko Noto, the voice actress for Tomoe Wajima, was born in Ishikawa Prefecture, and her family has been accredited for supervising the use of Kanazawa dialect within the anime.

Go Nagai, the mangaka known for Mazinger Z, was also born in Ishikawa Prefecture, and there have also been train cars with Mazinger Z themes as well.

Despite the recent Rinne no Lagrange dilemma, this effect may bring more attention to the use of "anime power" for further augmentation in local transportation systems.

In Keihin Kyuko Shioiri Station, an announcement by Ayana Taketatsu. The promotion of Tamayura Hitotose.

after seeing Tamayura banner on official city site and some more photos of events with this
I like it - but it seems to work for series like this (Hanasaku counts here also)

but Ayana Taketatsu? really?!
Yuko Gibu should do it... by whistling the schedule XDD THAT would be awesome
in either case there would be probability that I would miss the train ;)

Anime, making everyone's life better.

and japan thinks otaku's where bad

All Anime are not for otaku. Everybody loves Miyazaki's Anime in Japan.
Some hate otaku, on the other hand, the same people also loves Ghibli's works.
Even old guys have watched Anime like Yamato, Ashita no Joe, Cyborg 009 and so on in their childhood. In case of Joe, Rikiishi's funeral was actually held. He was Joe's rival died in the story. It was March 24th, 1970. Even though young boys and girls then, now they are nearly 60.
That's why those kinds of events are accepted.

Haha. Came into the thread to say this.

Would've been more effective if you hadn't switched your forum set to Taiga.

I know. Definitely going back closer to the release of the second season.

Sounds like a plan. Do we already know that's it's a second season and not an OVA?

I originally thought we did, but we don't. However,it's supposed to air in October, which coincides with fall anime. So it could be.

Crossing my fingers for it to be a second season. That would be excellent.

Unlike in Rinne no Lagrange, Hanasaku Iroha did a modest promotion of the area and it somewhat fitted the story better. The least you could call it tasteful promotion. Rinne no Lagrange was just too in your face and disgusting.

Honestly, I was thinking on going there next month when I'll be in Japan (I love the Kanazawa/Toyama region and have never been to the specific location the anime takes place in Noto peninsula up north - the landscapes and ryokans seem gorgeous). Anyway, some places have been really crowded by otakus in "pilgrimage" lately in Japan, Shirakawa-go (Hinamizawa) for one, to the great displeasure of local population...
