Robot TV Anime for Kids 'Gyrozetter' Announced

According to Famitsu, Square Enix has announced a new arcade card game "Chousoku Henkei Gyrozetter". Its TV anime will be aired in 2012. The production studio is A-1 Pictures.

Gyrozetter is a robot machine transformed from a car. Kawamori Shoji and Ebikawa Kanetake will participate in the project as mecha designers.

If it's about transforming robot with AI (like Transformers or Braves), it's quite rare type of mecha anime. But if it's just a machine driven by human pilots, it's really nothing special, it's what the most of mecha is. AI mecha, where not only humans, but the robots themselves are characters, is really rare. And this sub-genre of mecha definitely needs more animes which oriented at least on 10-15 years old watchers. Like most of Transformers seasons.
Too bad that this Gyrozetter anime will be childish (like Gobots, I presume).

Well, looking on the site, I seriously doubt that their robots have AI. Phew, it's another man-and-machine, not worth looking.

The girl have pretty cliche appearance. Pink-white with butterflies and laces. Geez, why do producers think that all of girls like that? Almost every of kids-oriented shonen anime (and not only anime) have this stereotypical look on girls.

I personally wouldn't give this a 2nd glance, but perhaps I'll start my little brother on this...I mean, he likes cars, so...this works?

Since when is originality particularly relevant for children's programming? I'm sure a lot of the stuff you loved as a kid was derivative as fuck too, and there is honestly nothing wrong with that.

Macross/Robotech
Voltron
Go-Bots
Transformers (how many variants of this? G1, G2, Beast Wars, Armada, Cybertron, Robots in Disguise, Anime, Prime, probably missed something)
M.A.S.K. (not quite robots though)

And how many different variants of shows like Power Rangers.

So yeah lots of derivative stuff. Look at Hannah Barbara and all the multitude of character/stories shows just that one studio put out, everything from Yogi Bear, Flintsones, Jetsons, Blue Falcon/Dynomut, Scooby Doo, Speed Buggy, Topcat, Hair Bear Bunch, Captain Caveman, Quickdraw McGraw, Huckleberry Hound.... Many of these shows crossed over into other shows sure, but there were common themes for many of them, and similar points of humor too.)

LOL. The original was anime. And a number of sequels were Japanese only. The Brave series was Transformers without using the Transformers lore.

This post makes me consider going out and trying to count all the transforming 'mecha' from ordinary constructs Anime, but I'm not sure I could ever get a complete count.
