Both of them have lots of psychological horror and suspense, and both are done by Tsutomu Takahashi, so there's no way you like one of them but don't like the other. 

Both the MCs are unwilling test subjects of scientific experiments that are way ahead of their times. [SPOILER] Both end up with amazing supernatural abilities, which they use to defeat their enemies. 

MC has a traumatic past and is put through a test of will 

Goth is Horror and Psychological just as Alive!. They're short and little scary. 

Both deal with life and death and how one reacts to their demise. They're each highly suspenseful and emotional. 

The main similarity between these two is kind of difficult to explain. If I try to sum it up it could be best described as aura from it. Both of these manga have a unique story line which might be an interest to an experienced reader.
