Alright so I won't say much about this little one-shot. I mean, I suppose I could make a terrible pun with the name but... I won't do that.
I happened to stumble upon this with Mangafox's "Surprise!" feature, and being a sucker for cute shoujo-ai, I gave it a shot.
Don't Say it just a little shoujo-ai one-shot about a school's 2-person braodcasting club and I guess why there are only two members.
Story: 4
Well I already summed it up. Not much to it really. At the very least it
...
wasn't confusing- Pretty straightforward.
Art: 10
The art was what kept me going. It was absolutely fantastic. You can really tell that the mangaka is a CLAMP fan =) (Bear with me- as an illustrator myself I am going to gush on this part a bit).
The whole thing felt like a very refined sketchbook or series of etchings- Every line was immaculate, and the hatching was so precise and was often used instead of screens. The mangaka also never just did 'flat' black shapes- you can always see his/her penwork in every bit of each panel.
The backgrounds were also surprisingly well done. You always know where the characters are, and you feel a little bit like you're there. And the uniforms- They were so fun and cute and unique! Impractical, but who cares? They were super cute. I love their fluffy sleeves and poofy skirts.
Characters: 4
Even for a 24-page one-shot the characters were fairly underdeveloped. They were clear enough though that there was no confusion with what was going on.
Enjoyment: 7
It's such a quick read, and yeah, it's sort of bland, but that art. Mmm. I admit, I kept reading it for the beautiful artwork.
Overall: 6
It's short, sweet, not very amazing, but worth a gander. It's only 24 pages, you can get through it in about 10 minutes. So, if you like beautiful art and shoujo ai it's worth a read. I wouldn't caution anyone against it- there's nothing offensive in it (unless you are opposed to cute lesbians), and the art, once again, is just gorgeous. But, on the other hand, you really aren't missing anything if you skip over this.
