For Chaosic Rune fans: Have you ever wanted to see what franchise kicked off the whole "card game" genre of anime/manga, but you couldn't get into the anime because it was too lighthearted? Try the manga for any of the Yugioh anime - it's MUCH darker than the TV show it's for.
For 5D's fans: You've finished the series. Do you want something that's a manlier/darker version of 5D's? Look no further than Chaosic Rune. To quote TV Tropes: "It's like if ~Yu-Gi-Oh!~ was written by Bruce Campbell and drawn by Chuck Norris."
Both of these manga put a group of teenage kids in a life-or-death free for all situation, and their only way out is literally to fight for their lives. The horror element in both manags is pretty graphic, and there is a lot of killing as well. The protagonist is a pretty level headed loner who will kill if he has to, and has a childhood friend that follows him and most likely has a crush on him. The plot for Chaosic Rune has a bit more fantasy with monsters and such, while guns and other weapons are mainly used in HSOTD. There are decent levels of ecchi in both manga.
