SynopsisTaking place on the fictional continent of Elibe and stars Roy, the son of Fire Emblem protagonist Eliwood. Roy leads the League of Lycia's army against the forces of the militant country of Bern shortly after his father falls ill.
The story begins when King Zephiel, ruler of the kingdom of Bern, finishes the brutal conquest of Ilia and Sacae and sets his sights on Lycia. With the war coming to his own country, Roy is sent home to lead Pherae's army to oppose Bern, but soon after he meets Guinevere, the princess of Bern and Zephiel's younger sister, who has escaped from her homeland to search for a way to stop the imminent war between Bern and Lycia.
Upon the death of marquess Hector, Roy carries on the Lycian League and makes many promises: to protect Princess Guinevere and Hector's beloved daughter, the mage Lilina, and most importantly, to save the entire continent from Zephiel's mysterious thirst for world domination.
But this story's hero is Al, son of a Bernian blacksmith. After turning 15 he left his home with his father's sword to go on an adventure in this continent bound for war.
Side story of Fire Emblem ~ The Binding Blade (Gameboy Advance Video game).

Fire Emblem Hasha no Tsurugi is a manga i started reading after i found out Roy was in (as a big video game fan, i used to play Melee alot, and i ended up being probably the biggest roy fangirl ever) i can't say this manga was at all what i expected, i never played the original game for GBA, and even if i did, this is a side-story of the game, ive played some Fire Emblem games, and i can tell that this story is NOT how Fire Emblem games work, it's even better, even after getting completelly stabbed you can get healed and fight again, in the games you can't do that, if your HP drops you lose your character and end up reseting, there aren't any main/army characters that die, witch is what i liked most
Story: 10
The story is what really hooked me into this manga, A little 15 year old boy sets out on an adventure with a sword he inherited from his father, meets a guy whom he was enemies because of orders and they both end up saving a princess together, those three travel together looking for a mysterious medalion called the Crest of flames (Or fire emblem) witch leads them into many perils and funny adventure, now the begining of the story is pretty cliché'd, but despite that, i really enjoyed this manga
Art: 8
The art didn't wow me, it was good enough, but nothing exeptional, i like the art from the other story this artist drew better (The Sacred Blacksmith manga and This manga have the same artist) but the art is still very good.
Character: 9
The characters introduced at all amazing, i love every single one of them (EXEPT for that blue-haired Fire user..) what i DIDN'T like about the characters is the fact that there are practically NO character developement.. i mean even if it were a mini side-story of like 3 pages would be nice, we saw some other characters, such as Diek, Wolt and Fir, but we didn't really see enough of them to see what kind of personality they have, i can just tell fir is a serious fighter, but i can't say that for sure since i never played the acctual game, so character developpement is the only thing i really don't like
Enjoyement: 9
There are always new things that happen, like SPOILERSPOILERSPOILERafter the final boss we all think that's the end, but it isn't, the princess gets captured and the three fighters end up trying to save her SPOILERSPOILERSPOILER, the battle scenes were really enjoyable, plus in between the batles there were often funny scenes, what i didn't like is again the character developement, there is practically none.. nonetheless, still very cool
Overall: 10
For those looking for a good shounen story with awesome fights in midieval times, there's your choice, for those looking for shounen and love stories, don't come here, that's all i can say read more

Interested in reading a manga that feels like an old school Japanese RPG? If so then this manga might be (and I mean MIGHT BE) for you. This manga feels like it was written during the late 1980's all the way to the early 1990's because the story and design is so similar to the early Final Fantasy games.
The story is about a boy with a strong sense of justice named Al who inherited a powerful sword from his father during an age of conflict and warfare. He travels across the continent (or world... I'm not really sure) and ends up getting involved in fighting a tyrannical kingdom bent on taking over the continent/world with the help of dragons. During his travels he discovers the existence of powerful artifacts called Fire Emblems and ends up fighting along side an enormous knight (Gant) and a princess (Tiena) as well as other guest characters who are all fighting against the tyrannical kingdom. To counter the dragons, Al and his party begins searching for information about the Fire Emblems and in the process get involved in the battles of other nations...
If you're looking for characters with complex character development, then you definitely won't find them here. Almost all characters present in the story are uninteresting because they are all based on certain anime and manga stereotypes such as the kid with a strong sense of justice and friendship (like Naruto).
The artwork is pretty decent but is nothing special, it is pretty difficult to tell which soldier belongs to which army and the minor characters such as the soldiers look generic to one another. Many scenes are also not shown such as how they were able to infiltrate a castle and make their way to the location of their captive comrades. The fight scenes are both hard to follow and lacking as you would often times be forced to use your imagination on how the massive battles concluded because these battles usually only focus on two or maybe 3 characters fighting while the rest of the soldiers are just shown having a static brawl in the background and it seems that the only significant role these poor guys have is to raise their sword and shout Hurrah!.
Overall: This manga is nothing special and is definitely aimed at fans of the game it is based on as well as fans of traditional Japanese RPGs. If you're reminiscing about the good old days of old school RPGs, then this manga might just suit you're taste but if not then perhaps it would be better to read a different title. read more

Both series have a similar style of art and feature characters who set out on a journey for a higher purpose. Usually it's defeating the evil and protecting the good as the main characters develops legendary or mysterious powers doing so.
Awesome alternative storyline to their game counterparts!
The style's pretty much the same and so are the characters. The story's a bit different but share the same value of defeating the evil army who did something, which made the characters having a grudge against them.
The value of "friendship", "courage" and "bravery" are shared in both these series on good ways.
The settings of both stories are somewhat similar, both main characters came from strong beings, the main supporting chick knows healing, both have Dragons, monster and evil magicians and both stories have an RPG game type of feel (e.g. Knights, Clerics, Magicians etc..)
