Dramacon (OEL)

Okay, first off, some of you may be turned off by this series because of its...

1. Left-to-Right format
or 2. American/Canadian Author... ness...

But you know what? Tough nuts. This is an amazing series, trust me on that. My copy of volume one of Dramacon is my most battered and loved manga I own. And I own a lot of manga.

Please take note, for this review to work well, I do need to include a few main plot points. Consider this your warning.

Anyways, the story begins with Christie and her boyfriend, Derek, off to her first Anime Convention, Yatta! Con. Christie is at the Artist's Alley with the two of theirs manga series, "Wary City". At the very begining, things seem to be off on the wrong foot with her and Derek. She gets annoyed, and heads herself off into the wilderness that is the crowds at an Anime Con (And oh, we know them well). Bumping into Matt, it's practically love at first sight, though she won't really admit it just yet. Matt conforts her, and she heads back to her table. Later on, it turns out, Matt's got a secret. He cannot see through his left eye. Though with this fact revealed, Christie loves him just the same, and life goes on.

Volume two introduces Bethany, who is Christie's New artist (I won't say why~). She loves to draw, however, her mother's opinion is that being an Artist is a Hobo job (Which, I have to admit, has its truth). Bethany trucks on through, having little adventures with or without Christie as the book goes on.

Volume three ties it all together with an touching end to Bethany's side, and a clearly happy ending for both Christie and Bethany. Oh yeah, and something good is there for Matt and Christie too. But I'll spare the juicy details, because that's why you read the books.

The story developts at a good pace, each volume presenting itself with a turn around scene that keeps me re-reading it over and over.

As for characters, there's nothing single-sided about them. Nothing seems to be just black and white. There seems to be a bit of realism in each character, even if it is in the romance genre. Between Matt's eye and Bethany's mother, though they seem extreme, such can happen, no matter what the odds.

Overall, I highly recomend this series. It's touching, it's funny, and a tear-jerker. read more

OMG! i love this series! okay what i mainly love about it is the love story line.
you cant put it down with every page your like "okay what happens next TELL ME" okay i might be overracting but yes it is a great read.
hmm the first volume i would say is the best,now i havent read the third one which is the last one but the first one was better than the 2nd.not that i am saying that you should skip it and read the third one but the first one has more romance in it. like in the title it has drama.romance drama. there are certain parts that shock you and you have to read it again because you liked it so much or did that really happen.
if you dont like to read icky love stories try reading this one and MAYBE it might change your mind.the story was made by a canadian author so it might bother you to read it the regular left to right format. read more
