If you like a depressing yet beautiful love story then Lament of the Lamb is a nice short 7 volume manga. The art work is simple and relaxed but conveys the emotions required for this kind of story. Similar to SaiKano in the sense of depressing nature (god that sounds awful doesnt it?!) but both are tragic and both have lovely art work and will make you have a lump on your throat as youre reading through the series. I love manga like this, good length at 7 volumes and very engaging.
Thought the stories of each are very very differnt throughout all of Lamenent of the
Lams and the latter half of Sakano there is a depressing and sad athmoshere that suck you in wanting more, and in the end make u truely feel something i cant explain it any better that this but both of these searies are a must read thought i personally perfer Lamernt of the lamb make ur choce

Both are about the psychology of adolescents given terrible weapons of war--SaiKano focuses on the development of one relationship, while Bokurano follows a larger cast.

While forming and maintaining relationships can be difficult, for the protagonists in each of these series it's much worse, with their respective love interests having been altered in order to play a part in something that's greater and more horrifying than what they ever could have imagined. With their worlds on the brink of destruction, these girls are humanity's last chance at salvation.

Saddening, shocking yet beautiful.
