Both focus on heavily supernatural and detective-like cases. Although Death Note has a single plot line, and Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro has many mini-plot lines, both series has a strong story and good character development.

Both deal with mysteries that require alot of thought and effort put into them, with both lead males are very intelligent. They both have rivals that are "gifted" in Neuro it is the new bloodline and in Spiral it is the blade children. However, in Neuro it is much clearer who the bad guys are,but in Spiral its a little harder to comprehend what good or bad is.

Both series' deal with a demon coming to the real world to solve various mysteries, murder cases, etc. They utilize their powers to do so, and gathering negative energy in the process to power them up, with occasional battles throughout. The main characters, however, are polar opposites.

Surprisingly, there are similarities. It's based around a main male character who came from hell, with little-to-no sense of the modern world. They use their abilities for their own selves, but when seen by others, seems to be for "goodness". There's a female character who has no powers, but is able to slowly force some humanity within the male lead.

These two manga aren't entirely the same, but something that is comparable is what the main characters do after they solve a mystery/dispell nightmares. They eat them. Neuro eats the mystery to fill himself, and Hiruko does the same but it's dreams.

Both of these are the supernatural mystery type. Both deal with some force that is causing problems, though El El is more liniar and Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro is more arc format. Both are slightly bizare in their art work too.

They run in the same magazine, they debuted around the same time, and there are two crossover stories by each artist (four crossovers all together). Both feature great illustrations of otherworldly creatures and things, and the protagonists have similar personalities. Both are great reads, if only for the art.

Both series deal with psychotic murderers with twisted desires. Interestingly, both series present them as monsters with deformed faces as a caricature and reflection of their crime. However, while Majin Tantei haa short and predictable case, Psychometer Eiji has much more serious and unpredictable cases. Both protagonists (Neuro and Eiji) have special powers although Eiji's is more realistic (psychometry).

Hana reminds me a bit of Yako, mainly because they both REALLY love eating

It's similiar to it in by how it gives you the same feel (well, to me anyways lolz) that Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro gives you. ^^ It may not seem like something good, since it doesn't seem to have a 'real' mainstory, but as you read on, there's an inkling of mystery that I cannot pass up on NOT finding out. The stories a bit dull at first and may seem like any other manga, but please do NOT be fooled by it; it has a special place in my heart, as do any other manga and anime that I like do, that I must recommend for everyone.
The main character, the butler, named Sebastian, reminds me very much of Neuro, only a bit more mysterious and not quite as sadistic as Neuro is. The boy that Sebastian serves, reminds me of Yako; their relationship isn't the same as Neuro's and Yako's is, but I hope that it reminds you of them if you get a chance to read it.
One thing that is another up about it is, is that the art is very beautiful and it's very hard not to resist oogling it =)
