The Blanket Twilight is a story narrated from several perspectives that range from the main characters to very minor ones such as a mailman. It revolves around Soichiro, a recluse, who lives alone in the countryside in the house of his deceased parents. He takes care of his pet dog and a flock of birds while pondering curiously about the world beyond the view from his home. One day after finishing all of the books in the family library, Soichiro at age 20, burns down his home and takes off on a journey into Tokyo.
