SynopsisCollection of 4 short stories:
1. Butterfly Cloud
Best friends Kiyo, Kanta, and Goma live in a small, depopulated island in the Seto Inland Sea. One day, a transfer student from Tokyo arrives. Before long Ritsuka, a cute and fair-skinned girl, started hanging out with the three best friends, but what happens after?
This story was released as a oneshot in the Bitter - Nakechau Koi Monogatari anthology volume.
2. Middle School - Less Than Love
Koizumi Kana is in Love. And her love for Fujimoto made her imagine him as a total different person and do all sort of silly things, even as far as to steal a pencil lead. What will happen when suddenly Fujimoto asks her out and she finds out that he is not the person she imagined?... A bittersweet story of first love follows.
3. Middle School - Man Hater
Mitsuki Abe is always being sexually harassed which lead to her aversion for men. Torii after being falsely accused for groping Abe decides to catch the real culprit. What will happen when Torii betrays her by accidently kissing her. Will Abe ever trust any other men? Will Torii catch the real culprit and be the exception for Abe's hatred?

Each of the separate stories inside this manga truly deserve separate scores rather than lumping them all together.
I found the first chapter, 'Butterfly Cloud,' to be really enjoyable, actually.
The story and the art were great, and I could really see the connection between each of the main characters.
I felt like I was off to a good start when I read it.
The second story, 'Less Than Love,' was not quite as good as the first, but it was still enjoyable.
It kept me giggling because it reminded me of my own obsessive crushes that I went through in middle school ^^
The art was also good here; in fact, the art was good through all of the stories.
However, I felt that the last two stories were lacking.
I didn't feel that the characters were developed very well, nor were they all that interesting.
The plots themselves behind the two stories weren't that great either.
By the end of the read, I felt pretty let down.
If you're looking for a quick read, definitely read 'Butterfly Cloud,' and then 'Less Than Love' if you'd like too. Personally, I don't recommend 'Man Hater' or 'The Cherry Blossoms Scatter.' read more

chouchou kumo is a truly fascinating oneshot that warmly welcomes you into its world of shoujo drama. you'll be sitting at the edge of your seats till the last page.
this collection of stand-alone stories starts with chouchou kumo, a story about love and growing up. it is, by far, my most favorite chapter. you'll see yourself chewing the edge of your pillow because of the twist in this story that'll make other people frustrated, while others, refreshed.
the second chapter is ok, but cannot surpass the first one. the first one has more depth in it, but you'll surely enjoy this one too. it's kind of , like, a can of soothing cola after a nice, warm exercise.
the third and the fourth chapters are also nice and neat. the story is good. but the very best one is the first chapter, probably.
after reading the first chapter, i swear, it made me cry. i also made a "act of appreciation poster" for our poor heroine. it's truly a hidden gem that could stand alone , or could've been made into a series.
if you have some spare time on your hands, try chouchou kumo. emotions and feelings would overflow inside your body after reading just the first chapter, like you've been exercising for hours. the second till the last chapter would be the bench, the cola and a towel that would cool you down. =) read more

Hinako Ashihara's one shot "Butterfly Cloud" reminded me of Tom Sawyer because of its plot: both manga follow the adventures of a group of kids who live in an island, and how their lives change when a new, fair-skinned girl arrives.
Tom Sawyer is more intense and tomboyish, while Butterfly Cloud is more romantic.

Both are lovely, bittersweet shoujo manga by Hinako Ashihara (two of her best works, in my opinion), where most of the stories have a school setting and plenty of romance and drama.
