Synopsis

The story takes place in the year 2020, just three years after the events of .hack//G.U.. (The story will take place not only in the new version of "The World" known as "The World R:X", it is a popular game ) but in the real world as well. The lead character is a middle school student named Tokio Kuryuu. He lives a normal life as a gamer until a mysterious girl named Ayaka Amagi transfers to his school and takes him in the game world. .hack//GU+ add

Fans of the .hack franchise should read both mangas. They are all part of the .hack universe and have a similiar pace and charaterdesign.
There is only one significant difference: while GU+ contains an alternate story of the GU games, Link is considered as canon.

.hack//XXXX add

Well, it's .hack. Link and XXXX are both parts of the .hack world. Link evolves the story about the online game The World after XXXX and GU were finished. Many characters of the previous games ans animeseries are reappearing in Link again. The two mangas have, too, the same creators. So both have the same drawing- and a similar storytelling stile. Like Sign, Link is the first installment of the new (3th) .hack era.
