After the dmv volume, I just felt an overwhelming sense of dread whenever I had to read Punpun's chapters. Even characters like Seki and Shimizu had their part of their stories just become worse and worse. I've been reading this manga on and off since 8th grade and thank god I didn't finish it back then. Even now after I finish it, I feel such doom and dread over my relationships, family, friendships, and my personal life. However I snapped the fuck out of it because it is just a story, a very sad, depressing, glum, philosophical story. I enjoyed the ending, it was nice ... to see him back as a bird. I wish I had more thought and better input in writing form, but maybe i'll revisit this story when I'm older and have a different view on things. But as of now, I think it's better off if my review is off the noggin of a stumbling, no path, still trying to figure it out 19 year old college student. I feel as if it could happen to me at anytime. Maybe not to that extent. But I'm grateful for what is it.

it was decent, heavily overrated in how good it is and how depressing it is, it is most definitely depressing at parts but not as much as people say it is. Just punpun being insane and/or over exaggerating his problems.

Very dark and physiological manga but not the worst stuff ive seen just mostly just sexual assualt, rape, depression and emotional abuse

Great art, well written but awful characters as almost everyone of them is a piece of shit or insane.

I think it was good but no where near as good as people say it is or the MAL rating.

Moreover, the pacing of this manga is glacial, testing the patience of even the most dedicated readers. While deliberate pacing can enhance tension and build anticipation, here it serves only to frustrate and alienate the audience. Moments that could be poignant or impactful are diluted by the sluggish pace, robbing them of their emotional resonance.

Beyond its pacing issues, this manga also lacks thematic depth. While it touches on weighty topics such as depression and adolescence, it does so in a superficial and sensationalized manner. Rather than offering meaningful insight or commentary, it relies on shock value and graphic imagery to provoke a reaction from readers, ultimately leaving them feeling empty and unsatisfied.

In conclusion, this manga is a disappointing and frustrating read. Despite its initial promise, it fails to deliver a compelling narrative or engaging characters. While its visual style may be striking, it is not enough to compensate for its narrative shortcomings. For those seeking a more fulfilling and enriching reading experience, it's best to look elsewhere.
