Do not be fooled by the seinen demography. Needless is not the place to find a deep and compelling story. The story follows the direction of a standard shounen. Except instead of the young ambitious friendly paratogonist, We have a perverted lolicon priest on steroids. ok now i guess you understand why this is seinen.
As you might have figured already, this series not for everyone.
The story starts out fine. the action and humor combine to provide you with a few moments of laughter here and there. But in time, it takes a few twists and turns to provide you with an actual engaging story. The thing is, after a while the comedy becomes so weird and the action becomes so over the top in some of it's arcs that, atleast for me, a complex story felt very unwelcoming, making me outright confused. Some of the best moments you are going to have with this manga are in the more humorous arcs. I will not spoil them for you in case you want to check them out. Anyway, towards the end, the story feels very bland and it just does not have the same "shine" as the mid story arcs.
The part where this series shines is the characters. We have our three main characters adam, cruz (yamada) and eve. the characters they encounter during their journeys are fit so well together with them and provide so many moments which make you giggle. overall it's very well done.
Now we get to the part that is the main turn-off (or on, lets be fair) for everyone who starts with this series: the art. Let me explain, you can (with a few exceptions) split the cast into two parts:
1- a handful middle aged guys on steroids.
2- tons, and i mean tons... of lolis.
And with knowing who the paratogonist is, you can understand how it all fits together. But weirdness aside, the art is not lacking quality wise. It provides details and craziness for the story's style and the characters.
One other thing which is worth mentioning is that this is one of those mangas which you cannot get away with reading a chapter without having seen at least 10 shots of girl's panties. Here, girls' panties and the part of their clothes covering their boobs are the most powerful materials in existence since they are the only things that remain after any, and i mean any attack received by them. This is fine and all but when it happens 15 times in one chapter, it just becomes absurd. But again, can't really argue that with a manga which it's aim is to be over the top.
In conclusion, I don't recommend this series to everyone and that score up there is just for show. With this series, it's either love it or hate it so I say give this or maybe the anime a chance first for a few episodes and if you found that it suited your taste then just continue on with it. It's not so great that you'll remember it for the rest of your life, but if you do give it a chance, it is guaranteed to provide you with plenty of entertainment. read more
