Ansatsu Kyoushitsu (Manga)

Ansatsu Kyoushitsu, or Assassination Classroom, is not your usual shonen manga. In fact, the name really gives you the opposite idea of what it really is. At first glance (at the name, of course), you would think of this manga as a serious, dark manga like Death Note, but the moment you see the manga, a dark, ecchi manga comes to mind. Once you start reading it, you'll figure out you were wrong on both accounts (though it can be considered a bit darker than your usual shounen).

In Ansatsu Kyoushitsu, class 3-E has been given a mission by the government : Kill their teacher before the year ends. Of course, class 3-E is not a normal class and neither is the teacher. The teacher is an octopus-like being that can move at the speed of mach 20 and has vowed to destroy Earth in an year's time. The class, a bunch of drop-outs who failed to score big and are doomed to be discriminated by the rest of their school. And thus ensues the story of where the students try to assassinate their teacher, and their teacher helps them improve their assassination skills.

The art of Ansatsu Kyoushitsu is fairly generic and, while not something you would applaud over the moon, it is fairly attractive and is bound to improve as the story continues. The art also fits the serious-yet-comedic nature of the manga. The students are easy to distinguish, unlike in most manga, through their hair and uniforms (even though they wear the same uniform). There is just one problem. Is Nagisa (the MC) a boy or a girl?

As mentioned above, it is hard to distinguish whether the MC is a boy or a girl, either through his appearance or even his actions, at most times, (he is a boy, btw). The teacher, Koro-sensei is easily the most interesting not just with his Mach 20 speed, but also with his many personality quirks (weaknesses). Karma, the third MC, is the only one who really poses a serious threat to Koro-sensei through his delinquent ways, thus is one of the more fun to watch characters as he is always trying something unique to try to kill Koro-sensei.

This manga is a good read, well worth the time to be invested. If you are a hater of comedy, though, beware. This may not be your cup of tea. Overall a 9/10. read more

It's a great mistery that i want to eat!
The characters are unique.
Koro-sensei can make you laugh and make you afraid.
