A world under threat by a zombie menace, it is easy to get carried away with reading in horror and awe as our protagonists find themselves in a prison during the zombie apocalypse, with the world already in ruins the sheer action and suspense provides a fast paced view on how the zombie apocalypse could have occurred in a prison, with elements such as power struggles and slow response times similar to what is seen in I Am a Hero, as well as the constant struggle of whether or not to kill those zombies that may still have a hope of living!

Despite the fact that both series don't share a similar focus about zombie, there are some similarities I noticed when I first read Apocalypse no Toride. + Both protagonists are weak (atleast in the beginning) + They were also wrongly accused of a crime they did't committed, which got them thrown in prisons. + The events happened after that would completely change their lives forever as they try to survive and adapt to their new environments.

While H.O.T.D. takes place in a high school, Apocalypse no Toride takes place in a juvenile reformatory.

Both have to deal with zombies with some scifi elements.

While both events are set in apocalyptic worlds, both of these works focus on the concept of survival. The main difference between them is that one is about Vampires, while the other is on Zombies. However, both of them are still a very good read and I recommend it to any fan who loves action.

Both series are similar due to having to fight for survival. Both have enemies with overwhelming capabilities. Both have gory scenes.

Both are monster horror stories by the same author duo. If you like one of them you'll surely enjoy the other, because the art is the same and story structure, themes and characters are similar.

A weakling is sent to a prison where he teams up with stronger inmates to fight for survival, he finds his place among his new friends and by sticking together they manage to survive their harsh new environment.

Both series have to deal with infected people, while trying to stay alive. Apocalypse no Toride deals with a more apocalyptic subject (surprise), while Dawn keeps it a secret. Dawn has romance and school, while Apocalypse no Toride has sci-fi. Both series are trying to stop this “disease” and uncover a mystery. Both series have horror and action. Both have male protagonist, but have a “weak” mind in the start, but grow over time. Some of the similarities will also come along the way as one have read them both

Both focus on the main aspect of zombies as it's core, without the need for anything else just good old zombie vs human meyhem to make a good story. Which I think is hard to find within manga as there are not a lot good zombie mangas.

Both series deals with zombie apocalypse and is about survival.

Our MCs suddenly find themselves in a world full of zombies, and they have no other way than to fight their way through, in order to survive in this new world. Both manga have good art, especially Reversal.

Apocalypse is shorter than Eden( which makes it sweeter) Apocalypse characters are very fleshed out and developed, some of it through back stories. In Eden the MC's character is revealed to the reader as he develops, not much back stories except for the one-shot.

Similar tone, which mixes the sad/horror aspects of the situation with occasional humor, and similar characters and character designs. Both are great survival stories with interesting "enemy" designs (the zombies and the virus mechanics / the games).
reportRecommended by memikemi
Brutal survival stories in which people who are caught by the monsters may turn into monsters themselves. There are good scenes of survivors who don't hesitate to use anything they can get their hands on to keep surviving.

post apocalyptic world at their finest

They are both about infectious diseases that turn people into zombies. Both have a lot of blood and gore and are for more mature audiences. Anyway if you like one I'm sure you'll like the other.

The similarity of these two manga is about teens being incarcerate one manga is on the funny side and they other is in the kinda horror side I recommend both if you haven't yet they're fun to read.

Male bonding in prison between a bunch of teenagers with distinct & differing personalities, and unlikely friendships are forged. Apocalypse no Toride has zombies as well.
reportRecommended by AfterGlow
Survival horror with overwhelming numbers of enemies, creating a desperate against the odds struggle where cunning is the key, and going in guns blazing will get you killed.

Taking place in a modern society, both series delivers a dark side of experimentation with horrific consequences. In addition, both series has a mysterious epidemic that affects their worlds. There is graphic violence present as well to convey the reality of horror. Both series are also known for their plot twists that changes the course of their story dramatically.

I read the synopsis of this manga and i thought of Shamo right away. The only difference between the two is in Shamo the main character really did commit the murder but in both mangas they end up young in Jail.

Both manga's involve a weak main character being put in a penitentiary were he meets a group of companions that will help him stay alive and sane. Both Protagonists eventually find out that the human race is being attacked by another species and of course they take up arms to stay alive seeing no end insight. The main characters start to adapt and become better and better at staying alive almost like they where born for a disaster like this to happen. Both Manga's share Action, Mystery, Horror, Sci-Fi, and Psychological genre components.

For Fort of Apocalypse, it's zombie with madness, coming from reform school aka jail packing with zombie full of boys. For Gakkougurashi! it's real school packing with zombie, but had more slice of life and some heartwarming event full of girls. Both had their own type of Story, though basically it is boys/girls meet zombie.

Two tragic narrative's that involve the human race being invaded by another species. Both male protagonists have special abilities that make them valuable in the fight to save whats left of the humans. Both manga's have amazing art work that shows some horrific gory fight scenes that keep you wanting more and more after each chapter.
