Pixie Pop (Manga)

I must say I'm not really into the really girly mangas but this one was actually quite good. If you know Shugo Chara it seems quite similar to it since they both have their "little characters" that help them. The story is actually quite cute and very funny. The characters are great especially Pucho and I've read the 1st volume over and over and never got tired of it. Even though I have only read one manga its great and I got hooked and I really want to read the next one but Its hard to find places and Mangafox keeps giving me virus' everytime I read it. I can't believe no review has been written for this manga!!

So the mnaga's about a girl named Mayu who's having love problems. After accidentally drinking the seven colourd juice, Pucho, the drink spirit suddenly appears. Now whenever Mayu drinks something her body transforms. For example, milk makes her taller and so on.Together they work for their own goals while helping each other, Mayu to get together with Amamiya and Pucho to become an adult.

When I first read about Pixie Pop, I thought it was one of them child-like manga that didn't have a very good story to it. What drew me in was mainly because of Pucho and Mayu transforming according to the drink she drank.
However, the looks have deceived me. What I read was something quite meaningful. It was so meaningful I was crying at the end. Pixie Pop is not just a childish love but it's about a strong friendship as well. Which to me, made it very touching.

I liked the art, quite a bit. Everyone is drawn beautifully, so are the clothes. I didn't take too much notice of the background though. I was kinda rushing through the story to see what would happen. Hehe.

Each and every character was different and very real. Mayu is in love and is somewhat selfish because of that. Though this chases Pucho away, Mayu is always sorry in the end. Pucho was quite the same and coached Mayu through her love troubles while sucking each coloured drop out of her. Amamiya, to me was a complete jerk. I didn't like him but in some scenes, I had to admit, they looked pretty cute together. I would've preferred Yuuki more. He is kind, sporty and fun, the complete opposite of Amamiya. Everyone changed as well, for the better. They all realised each of their faults and moved on.

I enjoyed Pixie Pop very much. Even in this short manga, I felt for the characters. I felt really happy, really angry and surprisingly, really sad. Once I started, I couldn't stop reading it. I went well past midnight just to finish this manga. This is a very moving manga and I recommend it to anyone who wants a happy story but might need a good cry too.

Also! Don't judge a book by its cover. This is more meaningful then it actually looks. read more
