SynopsisWhile the title suggests a story of simple, everyday school life, the contents are more the opposite. The setting is a strange school where you may see the principal wrestle a deer or a robot's arm hide a rollcake. However there are still normal stories, like making a card castle or taking a test you didn't study for. The art style is cute but mixes with extreme expressions and action sequences for surprising comedy bits.

Apart from the fact that both Hakase and Hatsume are inventors, both are gag manga with comedic elements of a similar and random nature.
Both of these titles are standalone slice-of-life narratives that depict, in an extraordinary and exaggerated manner, the daily lives of highschoolers. Moreover, both titles share very similar narrative styles; particularly in regard to how comedy is achieved.
Both are school comedies in a 4-koma format.
Very similar humor and the inspiration from Azumanga Daioh is very clear in Nichijou.
Nichijou is far more episodic and has some sci-fi elements, but the overall feel is the same.
