This was an incredibly touching story that the summary description does not give nearly enough credit to. I tried this after noticing it just finished and thinking the art was kinda cute; it had cute girls so that was justification enough to at least give it a shot. And it was a good choice: the art was cute, not breath taking, but cute, and the story was very funny at first. However, it would be a mistake to think this is all fun and games. This had a Tragedy tag on the website that I read it on, and it deserves to have that tag added on here. The story was top class, and the true main characters draw real emotion from the reader. I was blind sided by the ending, but not because it wasn't well written; just because it wasn't what I wanted. Still, this is a great manga, and I am proud to have been the first to review it. And if you choose to read it, prepare to be overwhelmed by the feels. read more

Reading the first few chapters, it's about a socially awkward guy named Riku who discovers a blog which instructs him on what he should do. It leads him to getting closer to his childhood friend Akari. At least, that is what it seems until it goes full retard.
Plot:
Boku to Kanojo no Koi Rogu is like a roller coaster. But rather being than the occasional ups and downs, imagine it riding upwards at a 75 degree angle, and just as the roller coaster slows down and prepares for the drop, all of a sudden you were back to where you were when the roller coaster took off. You never got the chance to leave, you noticed there are different people on the roller coaster, and the roller coaster takes off, this time 40 degree angle upwards. It repeats itself, and once again, you were back to the beginning. Not once has the roller coaster dropped, all that was left was you confused as fuck. It does this a few more times, each run with different angle driving the roller coaster upwards, different people on the roller coaster, until for some reason, the confusing cycle stops, and you on that roller coaster, was finally going to feel the drop you were waiting for (seemingly). The announcement apologizes for the issues earlier, and confirms that everything is back to normal, but just before that, this random person sitting beside you notices some weird things, and tries to explain it all to you. The roller coaster technician who controls the roller coaster is the exact same guy, the people on the roller coaster had been the same, only in different spots, but this strange man explains no further, as if he did not spoke to you. You had no idea what just happened, no one explains it, but god dammit finally something was going to happen, you were finally going to enjoy that roller coaster experience. Everything felt like a dream before you, but at this exact moment, you know it's the real thing. The roller coaster comes to a near halt as it tips itself over the edge where the angle changes to downwards, it takes a dive, and all of a sudden a giant dildo appeared under your ass, and raped you. The end. That is Boku to Kanojo no Koi Rogu in a nutshell without spoiling details (not like I can explain the plot).
Plot devices:
There are quantum computers, and alternate universes, but I will explain it as how it was used in this manga. Think of Boku to Kanojo no Koi Rogu as Steins;Gate and Inception having a retarded child who was able to score 137 IQ by calculations of Mensa's IQ test at the age of 15, but the IQ test was actually an RNG, and the Mensa staff that offered your child this test were two university compsci dropouts who worked days on end designing the IQ test. Before, they adopted this child, raised him, and once completing the IQ test and finding out that their adopted child is a genius according to their test, they praised him like a genius. It should also be noted that the parents did not know the gender of the child. They eventually taught this child the theory of quantum computing and time dimensions directly from Wikipedia, and had this child become the spokesperson for their new organization which directs itself in research in relations of quantum, time, and legalizing marijuana. What this child says, is fact of quantum computing and alternate universe theories.
Characters:
Pedophile, incestuous sister, tsundere and some shy girl who's there for the sakes of being there, best friend guy I guess who acts as the lynchpin for connecting a tissue to the plotline, but the plotline is 1D, so it kind of falls apart, and some other character I'm leaving out but could care less. Character development is equivalent to the game development process of Final Fantasy XIV.
Settings:
It's about the only thing understandable.
Overall:
When you do stupid research on Wikipedia about quantum mechanics, computing, time-space continuum and decide that the best way to gloat about your superior knowledge is to create a manga about it, this is the result. read more

In both of these serialisations, a female protagonist starts wanting to learn about being an otaku in an attempt to get closer to the guy she likes.

|
These two serialisations feature male otaku who openly prefer 2D girls than real ones. Despite this, they still catch the attention of many female schoolmates.
