What is similar in these series are the characters. Nezumi and Gareki are both tough and street-smart boys with a painful past . Nai and Shion are both kind and naive kids who know nothing about the world. the relationship between Nezumi and Shion is almost exactly the same as the relationship between Nai and Gareki, and vice versa. Karneval as a story is more action focused and has more characters. No.6 focuses more on the dystopian society, as well as being more shounen-ai (karneval is not, but it could easily be. keep wishing, fangirls!). Reading both stories however, one notices a striking similarity between the two mangas, especially in the beginning. Both are amazing reads.
