Riya Narukawa is a high school freshman with a tremendous talent for the violin, and an equally large bag of mental issues. He seems to have a split personality. After injuring his own hand to compromise his playing ability, he winds up on the doorstep of college student Atsushi Ikeda. Atsushi's a nice guy, maybe too nice and generous. He takes Riya in for the night and helps him with his hand injury. Atsushi realizes there is much more Riya than is on the surface, and learns just how difficult Riya's life actually is. Not only does he have a personality disorder, but there's an aggressive senior at his school who has his eye on him. Atsushi becomes a sort of safe haven for Riya, an escape from the life of music he's been bound to. (Source: DMP)

This is a rather touching story, enough so that I had to write a review. :)

It may just be that I've grown accustomed to disregarding gender, but to me, this story isn't about boyxboy or bl or whatever. This story is about the psychological effects of abuse and about the strength it takes to heal and grow as an individual.

Though I know that there are quite a few mangas that are out there that address this issue, I found this one to be the right balance of tactfulness and honesty. The characters meshed well together and the mangaka left room for the readers to read more

This is the first manga i feel inclined to write a review.

the summary of this story is basically a heart warming romance between two guys (yes, it's BL), a college student, Ikeda Atsushi, who is too kind towards everything and everyone and a violin prodigy, Riya Narukawa. One day, Ikeda found Riya lying on his doorsteps and took him in, only to find Riya waking up with a weird personality, a sloppy eater, a high schooler with no aim. The only clue to him was a violin which was found beside him. However, Ikeda found out that Riya has a split personality, 'white', who is read more

Manga: Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou
Note that IgsG is BL and Kare Kano is regular Shoujo, but both get really deeply into the characters and their psychological issues. The male lead of Kare Kano and the uke in IgsG have similar issues dealing with disassociation and acceptance their true selves, and both go through a process of growth and healing after meeting someone. These two manga really reminded me of each other.

Manga: Switch
Both have main characters who deal with dissociative identity disorder. Switch isn't a yaoi or BL manga but it's implied that the two mains are into each other.

Manga: Takumi-kun Series
Ukes have traumatic pasts which continue to effect them. Uke in T-kS despises physical contact, and uke in IgsG has multiple personality disorder.

Manga: CUT
Similar in the sense that both are more focused on psychological issues than super sexual ones (though CUT does have many graphic scenes). Both mangas include characters that are mentality scarred.

However, I personally believe the uke's problems in IgsG are more aggravating. But, if you can get passed that, the manga's conclusion is truly magnificent (actually, both of them end pretty awesomely).

Manga: Caramel Espresso
Both contain a character with dissociative identity disorder and someone who is trying to understand them.

Manga: Koukyuu no Arika
Both include ukes who were abused by their father/step-father. However, in IgsG, the uke was physically abused, while in KnA the uke was raped.
